The 5'ers are a tad bit longer than any bass i have ever wielded regularly. I started paying extra attention to where I swung the neck when moving about.

The 4's are definitely less wieldy. Haven't had any problems with Nefertiti.

As for fixing up, others have recommended, the crayon works wonders. because of the matte finish it blends in nicely. Not a perfect match but enough so that it won't stick out on stage. Get a box of gazillion colors and test some that look closest. Should be able to find one very close.

My SUB bass has a rounded headstock and it's covered in paint chips, it's called mojo! (well, it's actually me being a clumsy twat taking it out of it's wall hanger but whatever!)

On a production instrument and if you can tell a cool story about how it happened, you can call it mojo. Otherwise, it's just a paint chip. ;)

I think the only bass I've NOT managed to knock the headstock on is my headless bass!

i have a '17 pack' of colored sharpies. there is a navy blue in there that PERFECTLY matches my sapphire black bongo headstock. every once in a while, i will get a little careless and bump my headstock on something, a dab with the sharpie and you'd never know it!

if you're out and about at a place where such things are sold, have a look at the sharpie multi-packs. one of those colors might just match something you've got in your stable!

My #1 player 4HH, bought new from Musician's Friend right after the Bongos came out has no headstock chips. Shiny neck and body dings, yes. Needs a third output jack replacement, perhaps. The best bass I've ever played in my life, yes.

Amen. My number one Bongo, the black sapphire 5 HH, has no headstock dings!

Does need an output jack replacement, though. Ben, do you do that yourself?

No way, Jose. I let The Amazing Dan do those things on my EB basses.

Well, I gotta replace a jack, and I'm not shipping it out and looking like a complete no-load.

Get your ass over here and let's solder, girly-man!

If all else fails, I can probably help you out on that jack, Jack . . .

Oh no.

I logged on to see what to do about a paint chip on my headstock. I've only had the bass for about a week when my three year old whacked his spoon on it. Glad I'm not the only one. Thanks for the suggestions.

I am also very very fussy about scratches, none of my basses have any not even those 2 I have which I can't mention that I have owned for over 20 years they are still scratch free. They do get out of the house a lot too: gigs, rehersals on and off the ship, and are always carried in their hard cases.

However once I am holding them I am always careful, and I just keep checking my immediate surrounding of both static things I might hit, and people playing next to me getting too excited with their instruments.

~~~
As for the bongo I am going to a friend who works in a rubber factory, yes one of those that makes kinky rubber outfits and having him design a bongdom ;) for the tip of the headstock, once I have I will show it here and if anyone likes it, let's see those order coming in hahahaha, the bongdom hahaha, the things I come up with, lordy lord,
...packet of 3, Sir?
... something for the weekend, Sir?
Painted headstocks and dings are going to happen. Be glad they don't use paint like fender uses on the hiway one series. The paint on those will chip off just by looking at it. Sharpies and nail polish work well.
