hi everyone, first post. I am making my own bass, and decided to use my 2 favorate pickups, music man, and precision. I decided that the mm should go in the sweet spot, and the p should be where the neck pup would be on one of the hh 4 strings.
How far away is the neck pup from the nut or 12th fret, on the pup's bridge facing side, and neck facing side, on the bongo hh, sterling hh, and stingray hh? how do each of thier neck pups sound soloed? don't have one anywhere near hear to try. for the pickups i am going with a basslines SMB-4d ceramic for the mm pup, and a basslines SPB-3 for the precision pup. can a ceramic go with a non ceramic? how can i wire them both into an active pre-amp with a passive active switch, pickup blend knob, volume, bass, and treble knobs? don't know anything about wiring, and am doing it from scratch so all info is helpful:)

yea...ur not going to be able to make it sound like a music man...your missing the ball family magic.

only a ray sounds like ray.

a good idea would be to buy one.

your asking a bunch of Ernie Ball Lovers how to reverse engineer there basses so u can make your own....not too sure your going to get very far with that

seriously, get a music man there awesome

Yea by the time you do all that, you could have the real thing. I've tried that route already, just not the same in anyway except looks. You may have better luck, but I ended up selling mine recently.

?!?!?!?!?!? No disrespect here (honestly) - but if you can't find "punch" in any EBMM you aren't trying. That said, more power to you in your tone quest.

It would probably end up costing less to get an old used SR4 (or even a SUB) off here, or ebay or something. Maybe mod it with a P pickup but I would not recommend it!

like said, not trying to replicate already existing sounds. would someone who has any sort of music man HH, please go grab a tape measure of something and measure the 12th fret to the sides of the neck pup. this is a little urgent because the bass is due in 10 days and i need to route it this weekend
