I went nuts over the last few weeks and I'm getting both my old Bongo 5 HHp's back. I also secured a deal for an unlined fretless. I'm curious as to what combination of magnetic/piezo you guys like on the fretless..

The best blend is the one you come up with while playing. Rig, ambiance, hand position, position of equipment, and on.... will make a difference. Best you can do is play with EQ and get to know it like you know where to place your hands and how you pull on the strings. Get that 'feel' and the rest is cake.

That is how you gain your tone. If you listen to different players you will start to recognize each of them by their tones and feel.

Oh, well, was trying to leave my $0.2 but think I put down a whole nickel ;)

Well,I wasn't asking for the "best",I was just curious about what mix of magnetic and piezo others like to use.

I am considering that. Anybody use the piezo by itself?

My SR and Sterling FL piezos I tend to play at about
90% piezo, but the Boingo FL piezo [mine is 1H] hits
me kinda different. I find myself playing 50% to 70%
piezo in the blend. The SRs and Sterlings offer kinda
inneressin sounds as you get more mag PU into the
blend, but "kinda inneressin" doesn't rock my world.

OTOH, the Boingo mag PU tone brings magic as it
gets blended into the piezo sound in any noticeable
amount. Acoarst the Boingo also grooves at 90% to
100% piezo at least as well as the SRs and Sterlings.
