Bongo in action

Jack: If you go to my modest website, you can click on the link named "La Ciudad Bonita" and give a listen to a mp3 recorded like two years ago with the same band. But let me tell you that in my opinion, as a Salsa tune, that song is AWFUL. It was written by the band leader, but it's the typical case of the person who's learning about composing and arranging and thinks that throwing complicated harmonies and weird chord progressions into a song will make a great one. WRONG! This tune has some good moments, but as a whole is terrible (to me). I put it in my website because I created the bassline and I really liked the way it sounds on the recording. Unfortunately, I didn't have my Bongo at the time.

After listeing to that, I almost regret that the book Funikfying the clavé by Lincoln Goines arrives at my house tonight. The phrase "Way over my head" comes to mind.

Hardrockin steels huh?.I have Super steps on mine.Love the punch ,but the e string is not happening.Maybe I'll take a gamble on the Hard rockin set.I'd love to try a lot of strings if they didn't cost so much.I find the tone of the Bongo to be a lot mellower than my maple neck 5 with the bartollini pickups.Thats why I need the steel strings , the ernie ball strings on the Bongo just don't have enough punch for me.That is a personal opinion ,by the way.Just need to say that before I get a bunch of hysterical ,pro-ernieball ,hate mail.
