This is getting a bit close to the "I am so dissapointed my Bongo doesn't sound like a [insert crappy old style bass name here]!"

Maybe the Bongo just isn't for everyone?
I knew it was for me from the moment I saw that DG, and I have never before been completely satisfied with any bass I have owned. And I have owned some...

Hey Strummer - I note your frustration and understand it completely. The Bongo wasn't surely ever meant to sound like other basses. The Bongo, like any other bass, is what you make of it. A great product and a welcome addition to the list of desirable basses.

A wee note of caution however. To describe older type basses as 'crappy' and in a derogatory fashion isn't entirely fair either. I think of the glorious sounds that folk like Duck Dunn, James Jamerson, Jaco Pastorius, Pino Palladino to name but a few, have got out of these old style crappy basses. Let's stick to celebrating the glories of the MM product as there is plenty to celebrate!

Yes maybe not for me, I owned one of the original Stringrays which I had a hard time getting hold of in '79 and loved it. The Bongo is a great bass but the tone is not what I was looking for. Too Twangy without a big Bottom. I replaced batteries, completely switched up EQ settings from what I normally play, set my amp EQ flat, boosted mids, etc. Not getting my sound!

This post turned into a big bitch session which alot had nothing to do with my original post.

Anyhoo, the Bongo has been sold and I enjoyed my brief stay here but I'm moving on!

Good Luck and Good Night!

While I respect your opinion I must say. I have never heard a bigger bottom than a bongo out of any bass.

Go with your sound bro. It will be good.

We are just different and that is probably a good thing.

Im getting really frustrated with this thread...over a thousand views with a sensational thread name and the guy is using it through a bose direct...Please either change the thread like "help with preamps for bongo" or help with strings for bongo" it is really now just a cheap shot on the bongo.......

Maybe it should be focused on my original post!!!! Not damn BOSE PA's

Not available in my area bro. I did try everything I could get my hands on. The SR5 sold me on EB. I took the bongo on the folks here saying so and am not disappointed.

I do hope you find what works good for you. Playing bass is fun. Something the whole world needs more of.

I look forward to hearing your songs one day. Maybe I will mail order an Elrick.

If you meant no disrespect why didn't you change the title of the thread like requested?

Because I didn't say anything about Bongo's in a negative light except I wasn't hearing the "magic Bongo tone". Everyone else hijacked "MY" thread and turned it into this!

Jeez, just drop it and get a life! Big Poppa rules!!!

I have seen no disrespect. I just think it is a matter of it just totally did not work and that should be okay shouldn't it? We all will say what we are unhappy with quicker than we do what makes up happy.

It is sad but true.

IMHO

hey I know the thread was hijacked and I also can understand what you're saying, but if you think BP rules just change the title of the thread like he requested. It can be hard to get get your point across in written form without sounding like a whiner but I do understand what you're saying.

Uncalled for! I simply stated what I was hearing with "my Bongo". This isn't a pissing contest! I was asking for some help and all I got was a bunch of smart ass replies! Hell I didn't even get a polishing cloth in my new "stiil in the box" Bongo from BC damnit! BP you owe me a polishing cloth! :D

PS: Dude.... Lick this! ;)
