A month ago I was at Disneyland with the family and saw a guy eating a turkey leg and this scary picture flashed into my head. Now back to the thread about bongo monkeys.

I approve, too.

On a slightly related note, I was listening to James Brown's "Make it Funky," and I SWEAR he said, "Eat a monkey now."

Maybe it was just too close to lunchtime...

It looks like a chimp because it is.

And I understand the difference between monkeys, apes, new world monkeys and old world monkeys. I even understand how lemurs fit into the mix.

(I am a ruthless reader of all things anthropological.)

But Bongo Monkey sounds better.

Doesn't it?

Admit it.
Pan paniscus bongonadium is its Linnean trinomen. Popular name: Bongo bonobo.

(I did my masters thesis on trends in primate taxonomy).

Bongo Bonobo? Now that is just too funny! We could take this thread in a whole new direction. But then again.......

Fred, I knew there were reasons I liked you.

I'm a primate dumbass, but helped a friend of mine a few summers back. She was working on handedness in baboons. (They don't really exhibit any preference.)

the third chimpanzee,

Actually, I'm afraid that I have simian alzheimers--I got my masters degree back in '76--& promptly began forgetting everything that I learned. Bonobos are cool, though--as are baboons. I prefer my right hand.
