Hi guys,

well this is my first post here, so I'll start by saying hello :D I am considering buying a new bass and the Bongo just has a lot of effect on me

I have seen one at my local independent store (I leave in a small country, not guitar center etc here), Bongo 4HSP, Teal Pearl. BUT, it was hanging there for quite a while, and when I tried it, the neck was quite curved. so I told the guy to set it up properly and that I'd come back next week-end to try it again.

My question is, if the bass has been hangin there for several months, maybe a year+ with the neck curved, can I expect it to stay straight after it's been setup? Or should I know better and just have them order one brand new from the factory (besides I didnt like Teal Pearl too much)? My only problem is that I need one rather as I have a long studio session this august and I doubt a new one will be arrived by then.

What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance!

Where do you live?

Neck should straighten out fine and hold. HSP configuration is killer. Buy it!

Then get another in the color you like - maybe an HH!!

Oh - and welcome to the forum.

Switzerland! (just edited my profile ;) )

btw I didn't mean that I prefer huge shops to small independent guys - just the opposite. but theres no huge place around here to go and try out loooots of basses of every possible kind.

maybe I can get him to order me a brand new one with the color exactly like I want, and lend me the one he has there in the meantime. we'll see, I still got one place to visit a bit out of town so I Can't go there before the week-end either - hopefully they'll have MM stuff.

Welcome! If you like the teal, there is no reason to think the neck won't hold after it's been set up. If it's just because it hasn't been set up in a while, it should be fine. Tighten the trussrod, use a Wonderwipe to condition the fretboard and it'll be as good as new. The SHp setup is certainly a great way to go.

Of course, no one would blame you for ordering one in the color of your choice, either.
