I've got a Bongo 4HH and it's the only bass I've ever had that doesn't sound jangley with RW strings. Even my 5HH was outside my tolerance for jangles when I got it. Put on flats taco prontito. Anyway, what if I need a spare string or strings? What are the original strings on a 4HH? They are getting fret marks already, so I think they are nickel. I assume they are some sort of Slinky's, but which ones?

To the best of my knowledge, all EBMM basses ship with Super Slinkies.

45-100 Super Slinky's
Thanks. Are those nickel alloy windings, or do Super Slinkys come both ways and I'd have to specify?

If it can mean either, which is normally on a new bass, nickel or steel? If these are nickel, that's cool. If they are steel, I'm thinking I can ratchet this up another notch or two [of my prefered tone] by switching to nickel.

The stainless steel ones will have "Stainless Steel" on the packaging.

I hate when strings sound jangley.:D

Not poking fun at the idea, just the word used. I like flats mice elf.

Correct, Sam....The leave the factory with the nickle strings.
Cool. Now I'm *fully informed*. Thanks.

Now that I think of it, I do have spare strings. Don't know why the HH5 sounded too jangley while the HH4 just hums and snarls, but ... I did take the RW off the HH5 right away, and those would also be nickel Slinkies, yes? I can use the B-string to fix the toilet, and the rest are spares for the HH4. Hawwwg Hehhhvv'nn for Bongzo!
