The body appears wider which is noticable at the top. The lower horn also appears shorter than the production models (maybe camera angles?)

Note the Sterling neck!

Different electronics?

Strings through body bridge. Saddles are cut to string guage. The production models have "V" cut saddles with grooves the same size.

Although it can't be seen clearly, the serial is F05503.

Does seem more bulbous. Glad they slimmed it down. Not sure if the bottom horn is shorter either. Seems like it but I could be thrown off due to the fatter body. Nice tho'. I like the pg-less look.

edit: Just noticed how they shaped it at the bottom of the bridge. Nice touch!

I certainly prefer the production body... Bit more "cut" - ala Joe Nerve! ;)

And look at all those knobs!

Wouldn't mind the string-through-body, though...

Don't know specifically, outside of expecting the usual stuff - volume, blend, multi-band EQ.

But on the prototype thet're not stacked, they're all individual controls. Kinda freaks me out a bit...

Nice pix Gav, it's a great thing that the Bongo is so recent and we have the opportunity to see the design / refinement process at work.

Thanks for sharing.

THe eq was trebloe parametric mids and bass...It was really cool but the parametric was capable of great and horrible sounds so we decided to go w band stacked on the production models
