Hey Derek,

Well, as you probably know, I now have two Bongos, which is two more than any store in the local shopping area.

Certain large Florida-based retail facilities report that there is an up-to-three-month wait on four string Bongos.

Many people have tried and failed to locate a Bongo suitable for immediate purchase.

There is the possibility that I should stop slutting myself out on every bass guitar board on the internet, urging people to get a Bongo as quickly as they can.

But in any case, I saw your comment regarding left handed Bongos and without asking for specific sales figures or any sort of inside information that would tend to put me at risk of kidnap and/or assassination by Dan Lakin, how is the Bongo doing so far?

Seems to me there is more demand than supply at this point, although you wouldn't know it over at my house.

Oh yes, so you don't forget:

1. bongo shirts
2. bongo stickers
3. bongo condoms
4. build a good bongo case
5. i love you but not in some funny way.

Jack

So far we have been building the orders we took at the winter Namm show 03. We also have been taking orders throughout the year and the reaction has been great. I guess we will see what will happen when its time for the dealers to reorder more at the Namm show.

Since 03 we have added the Sub series a 4 and 5, and the whole Bongo line, so our backorder has grown a bit but if you have to wait for a Bongo it is going to be worth it. 5 -6
years ago are backorder was 9-12 months!

Thanks to guys like you we have more and more interest every day. Bass player magazine has a couple of Bongos now and will have an in depth review in their March 04 issue.

Word of mouth has always been our best advertisment so please keep spreading the word.

Jack remember "too much is never enough"!

Happy Holidays!!

Derek

Thanks for the info.

Serious bidness, you know I've been a long-time supporter of MM basses and have owned quite a few over the years.

This is the best bass you've ever built. Please pass congratulations from a small-time fan to the designers/builders.

The word keeps spreading!

Bovinehost,
Please shut up! :) I have 4 basses already and the last one is an SR5 I just bought. And please stop posting pictures on your website. I don't want to buy another bass. Or do I? Besides Bongo is ugly! ... ... ... errm... come to think of it, it doesn't seem as ugly as before... Ummmh! Well maybe I'll... no... no... no..!

May I suggest a posting ban for Bovinehost for several years?!?!?

Bongo Diagram/schematic

Hey Bovine, have you had tried to download the diagram/schematic for the Bongo. Mine is a 4-HH got it at GC no manaul or diagrams. But I love this Bass, about to start saling the other 5 basses gathering dust. Modulus Genesis 5, Pedulla Raptue JJ4, Roscoe Beck V, SR5 w/piezo, Marcus Miller 4, Srx300. :D Not really I'm just a bass junkie and try to justify so many basses, the Bongo V is in my sights

Oh man.

Since BoNgo came to town, I have sold or traded away a Stingray 5, a Stingray 4, a Lakland 55-63, a fretless Stingray 4......

...and I am pondering another BoNgo. This is insane.

Haven't seen the diagrams or schematics for the Bongo yet.

Bovinehost-

Hey have you tried a HJ config yet? I got a chance to play a 5er over the weekend with that configuration....it seemed like it was missing a little punch compared to the HH.. Oh I did buy a Stingray and returned it to pick up a Bongo today thanks to you!

Also I have a couple of questions:

Is there a place I can pick up a spare Bongo pickguard?

What set of strings come with the bass? EB for sure:p but which ones?

Bovine - It seems fitting that you get a 5 HS next, since you have the 5 HH and the 4 HH. Maybe you could spring for the Piezo this time, too! You better not steal my graphite pearl with black ice, though! *shakes fist*

Malachi - All EB basses come with Super Slinkys on them.

Bongo Pickgards are available through your Local MM or EB dealer. Have them call our customer service department and we will sort out the part numbers. Most Bongo Pickgards retail for $50 US.

Thanks for the info guys. I got to actually play my new bongo on a full set tonight...It played so well it practically played itself! I'll definately check into GC and see what they can do about a pickguard. :)
