This has probably been covered before but it was new to me.

Popped in Porcupine Tree's "Arriving Somewhere" DVD tonight and there it was...bigger than life -

Colin Edwin rocking the Bongo!

Don't know how I missed this before unless it was before I bought my JP6 and became a member of this forum.

While I don't play the bass (though I have many times), it's nice to see The Bongo getting some LOVE!

Yep. And Colin Edwin's sound better with the Stealth Bongo than with the Spectors he had with him on the last tour. They were all mud, no cut.

I'm not sure he didn't use the Bongo on Deadwing and some of Fear of a Blank Planet. Could be wrong, though.

Everything pre "Fear of a Blank Planet" was recorded with his wal basses (fretted and fretless). Fear was recorded with a longscale spector and a regular spector and a basslab bass. A Stingray was used on the first leg of the Deadwing tour and the bongo was used on the second leg of the Deadwing tour and made a few appearances on the Fear tour. Colin Edwin really is a superb bassist. Very laid back and essential. I hope he uses the bongo more in the future. It certainly worked amazingly well on the DVD "Arriving Somewhere..." Perhaps he won't need a longscale for the drop tunings so much in the future and will come back to the glorious flexability of the bongo.

While I won't argue what he usually uses...he used that Bongo for the entire two hours of the "Arriving Somewhere" show that they recorded for the DVD.

I'm telling you what, it was GLORIOUS!!

Like I said, I don't really even consider myself a Bass Player and I want a Bongo BAD!

That DVD is the reason I want to have one of those Stealth beasts... truly... yeah, I'm easily convinced :D

It's the reason I have a Bongo... though as a lefty I couldn't get a stealth, so I got a carbon blue badboy. ----->

Thanks for the info, Leftybassist! I do actually want to know this kind of stuff. I've been a Wal-a-holic for years. I don't take mine out of the house much any more, because it's nigh on irreplaceable. Besides, my Bongos push all the buttons the Wal does at 1/3 the price!
