Just watched the movie "Raise Your Voice" starring Hilary Duff with my kids, and during the final concert scene, the house bassist is playing a HH Bongo, either Lava Pearl, CAR or RR, from the looks.

There was a thread about this guy a long time ago....probably Hilary's bassist rather than the house bassist.

Jon will remember his name. I saw him playing a Bongo on the Today show. Hilary's bassist, not Jon. That would have REALLY surprised me, seeing Jon on the Today show.

Um, anyway.

I recall that the bass' finish is Lava Pearl. I also recall that the bassist is from Indiana originally and he was discovered by Duff's manager at a Coffee shop where he worked. I have no clue why I still posses that information in my brain.

Yeah, he looks kinda like the dude that used to play the Bongo at the Starbucks down the street, but it's probably someone else...

Found Derek's old post about this guy:

Yes we have been getting the Bongos in the Hands of some good folks.

Hillary Duff's Bass Player's name is Kayle Truman

He has a Lava Pearl and Black Bongo.

Look out For :

Ira Dean (bassist w/Trick Pony)
Benj Gershman(bassist w/O.A.R)
Johnny Sprague(Earshot)
Aaron Julison(Kid Rock)

and Pino Palladino!(The WHO) is reportedly playing his bongo and will not touch anything else. ( He must of called Jack and asked which bass would be good for the Who's upcoming tour.)

I'm glad Zak Starkey didn't call up:

Zak: What kind a kit should I tour with Jack?

Jack: I highly suggest a Bongo

Zak: Dude, this ain't the beatnik tour!!!

Would've been better with Keith but he's dead.

I thought I had seen some mention of it before, but I searched on "raise your voice" as opposed to hilary duff.

Add Steve Marshall to the list of bongo players too. I think it was BP and son that convinced him.

Steve plays bass for Kenny Chesney. You haven't heard him you should have. He has always laid down some good lines to the music.

I guess it is apparent he is one of my favorites.

Pino is playing his new custom F*nders :(

That's not entirely correct. Pino is playing the same old '63 P bass in Fiesta Red over Desert Sand- with the JM3. Fender took that bass and made a bunch of custom shop basses that are relic-ed to look(they may even sound/play similar)exactly like his. Is it possible that Pino is playing one of the custom shop basses? Sure, but I doubt it when he owns the real thing. The shop I used to buy my basses from up in Minnesota has the Pino Palladino model in stock but the price is an arm and a vintage leg.

now back to your regularly scheduled program of EBMM ruling.
