Bob Nyswonger (Adrian Belew, Bears, Psychodots) plays a Bongo?

Looks like sound check to me but maybe I'll know more later:

It's early and all I got in the email was this. More as it occurs.

Well, it was NOT a sound check. Mister Bob played that Bongo for lotsa humans, paying customers, hangers-on, etc.

My Bongo is famous!

Well, okay, not famous, but I do think it's rather cool that Bob played the thing.

I'm glad to hear that was during the show--if he had sweat that much by soundcheck, he wouldn't be long for this world. :D

I came this close to buying a Carbon Blue SC/H 5 string today at GC NIB for $1000, including tax today. I managed to make it out the door without it, but these pics don't help.

I was just noticing the drummers drums dont match. The tom is different than the bass drum. I sure hope his mom dresses him in the morning!

Very nice. I saw Bob with the Bears a few years ago in Atlanta. The show was sparsely attended, but those who were there were very enthusiastic and the band responded in kind with a great show. I'd love to hear his report on the Bongo.

There is a drummer, and a very good one at that. Chris Arduser is his name, and he plays drums, mandolin, you name it, plus he produces records very nicely.

Here, Rob Fetters, guitarist/vocalist/big hair person has his Big Rob Hair blown back by the power of the Bongo:

For those of you who are curious about great American rock and roll, I highly recommend the Psychodots/Bears/Related Artists.

I am particularly fond of the new George Cunningham release, which was produced by Chris Arduser and features at least two great bassists that I kind of know. See the stuff here . I know, it's a guitar album, but this is not some wanker showing off his latest weedly deedly. This is a guy who knows what a song is and makes instrumental music fun again.

That description, in addition to being dead-on, was hilarious! :D

I gotta tell you, Steve, there are guitar players I love. Adrian Belew, Jeff Beck, Todd Rundgren can even make me cry sometimes when he feels like playing guitar, but if you've never heard Rob Fetters - wow.

The first time I heard him was live in Santa Cruz in maybe 1994 and I thought, "Oh man. When I grow up, I want to be Rob Fetters."

Really something to hear/see, that Rob is.

I hear ya, Jack. Todd Rundgren played Pittsburgh a few years back, opening for Hall & Oates. I went, and it was one impressive show. Both bands sounded great. Darryl Hall can still hit those high notes, too, which impressed me. ;)

The real questions is, where is his bass amp?! Whatever it is, it's probably handling 2 ohms or so with them three cabs.

And whta kind of cabs are those?

Nice Bongo though...

Bob says:

1) a mid-70's SVT &
2) a 100W Marshall Superlead (early '70's)

"The cabs were built by a company here in town called SSI - they are contractors that build for amp companies. They build a lot of cabs for Aguilar currently. The 15"s are built to JBL spec and are loaded with K145's...the SVT pushes those. The other cab is a sealed 2 x 12" loaded with Celestions - the Marshall pushes that one.

I only use this rig with Psychodots & the Bears. It's pretty amazing sounding and has plenty..and I mean PLENTY of headroom - even for outdoor gigs."
