Bongo/StingRay Single H position

I did a quick search but didn't find an answer to my question. (Which is...)

Is the single H pickup in the same spot on the H version as it is on the HH version? Specifically Bongo and StingRay.

Just to be clear, the bridge pickup on an HH Ray is in the same position as a single H Ray, but the bridge pickup on an HH Bongo is in a different position from a single H Bongo. The single H Bongo pickup is closer to the bridge. Correct?

Correct. I think that the single H bongo has the same positioning as the stingray too.

You have it right on the Stingray and Sterlings, but the single H Bongo pickup is FURTHER from the bridge than on the HS/HH models.

Ding Ding Ding - we have a correct answer. Bongo single H pup is a touch farther from the bridge (more towards center) than the bridge pup on an HH or HS.

I think that a simpler way of putting it would be to say that all EBMM bridge humbuckers are in the same position, with the exception of the dual-pickup Bongos...and the reason for that exception is that the 24-fret neck on the Bongos narrows the gap between the neck and the bridge, forcing the pickups to be moved back toward the bridge on the dual-pickup Bongos.

If there is a difference (and I'm sure someone could find a very small one, given the pole pieces on the Dual are not staggered, and there's switch in the signal path) they sound close enough for me to see no reason for a single H, except for simplicity and looks.

I'd agree if the HH Bongo was available with the 3 band EQ that's on the single H. The mids controls are not the same and I like how the 3 band preamp sounds. That's why I have one of each!

yup! a 2 pickup SR4 with the selector in position 1 will give u the traditional SR4 sound

I'd agree if the HH Bongo was available with the 3 band EQ that's on the single H. The mids controls are not the same and I like how the 3 band preamp sounds. That's why I have one of each!

OK, my answer was specific to question about the StingRay. I think the sum of the differences would be:

StingRay:
- 2 band EQ not available on the dual PU models
- Piezo option not available on the dual PU models

Bongo:
- Bridge H is closer to the bridge on dual PU models
- 3 band EQ not available on the dual PU models
- 4 band EQ not available on single H model
