Last Night i used the Bongo 2 pickup model, 2 humbuckers, thru a Aguilar Tube Di
And OMG Punchy as Hell and more warmth then my 69 SVT.

First time ever after a Show i got too hear the bass thru this Di and Just how FAt it was.

The Amp was a 6-10 SWR Cab and a GK 1001-II, One Beta 57 off the side of the speaker and Mr. Aguilar DB-900 Di

Man I've wanted to try one of those pups. I'm getting a real fat sound right now miking my Mesa 400+ thru my Mesa 4x10 cab with a Large diaphragm condenser mic but I'd really like to try an Aguilar tube di. Anybody tried the Ampeg SVT di? How does it stack up?

also the Groove tube DI is super sweet--fast, punchy and fat-

I've heard the Ampeg Di is supposed to pretty good, But everything I've ever used of Ampeg Just does not stand up. It spends more time in the repair department then in use.

The cool thing with this Aguilar is, they use the famous Jensen Transformer, and they just sound Killer.
The Aguilar is a bit pricey but who care's if it works and sounds great, and it's never in the shop for repair.

I heard those sound great too, I just can never find anyone who stocks them, Any idea on what they cost?

I'm not sure--i used it at Village studios in Santa Monica --I don't think they are that expensive--not sure though

and if you guys wanna hop the fence into transistors.... Avalon U5 or for a bit less any of the DIs from Radial Engineering(they're built here in Vancouver...so a little bias on my part, not tube biasing though 'cuz they're solid state)

The SVT DI is great, and the groove tube brick,both are warm but not much more than the Avalon U5. IT rules the roost, I use the radial Bassbone with it when I A/B the bongo and the SR5. the soundtechs love my tone and so do I, I might ad......

ahhh... I'm going to be picking up a BassBone some time soon as well, great little box.

Yea the bassbone is great for mixing the Bongo with the stingray for output levels. they sound so good coming back through my sensiphonic in-ears.

the Avalon is bad ass no question about it.

yes, had to relinquish mine to my studio cohort for mixing time and use of his gear for my solo project...
but I still have access to it ...at times
