BTW, I had slightly rusted polepieces on a Stingray 5 fretless I played for years. (Living in Texas, tendency to sweat on stage, not always religious about wiping down the bass after every set....you know.)
Who ever designed this bass should be stoned!it's ugly.why doesnt Ernie Ball just try to improve what they already have and let people like Ibanez come up with these crazy designs
I think of it this way. In the early days of the electric bass guitar, the Precision ruled the earth. And then Leo, with input from many players, decided we needed something else.
And what if instead of designing the Jazz, he had simply updated the Precision? Wouldn't the world be a poorer place without the Fender Jazz?
You don't like the Bongo? Okay - don't buy one. But I've heard a lot of different opinions in a very short time. I intend to try one or two and see what I think.
I'm still keeping my Stingrays and my Sterlings, but I'm interested in new stuff.
When it comes to buying a bass, i always go for the traditionalist look, i.e., Music Man, Fender etc. I think alot of these modern basses look ugly and too futuristic (this is just my opinion and a lot of people won't agree). The bongo, however looks just downwright wicked. it looks futuristic yet keeps a more traditonal look. The Stingray will never be beaten on looks but the Bongo has definately come close. i will definately be buying one when we get them over here in Good Old Blighty!
