I would have expected a bit more than this from you!

You disgust me, you are not worthy of this thread, get out, NOW!!

LOL just kidding! Although you could have done a bit more, you get a C vote this time.

Bongo, how do I love you? Let me count the ways.

1. Good looking.
2. Great sounding.
3. Versatile.
4. Unique.
5. Comfortable.
6. Easy to play.
7. Well made in the U.S.
8. Groove inspiring.
9. Allows you to be called a "Bongoloid."

You guys are making me jealous...about 2 more months of waiting. <sigh>.

Well worth the wait. I like your choice in basses, Powman; Sterling and Bongo! Read my signature.

I know. I really think this is the absolute best combination of 2 basses. No disrespect to the Sting Ray boys, 'cause the Sting Ray is such an iconic bass. But to me the Sterling has an even more aggressive sound and really really rocks. Then a Bongo has such a deep tone and can be as smooth as a Barry White song. What a combo!

Stages of Bongoholism

- Inability to get past the looks, coupled with old toilet seat jokes and derision of geeky Bongoloids.
- Sneaking interest generated by glowing reports.
- Questions about whether a Bongo should be purchased.
- Statements of undying devotion to current basses.
- Purchase.
- Flabbergastedness.
- Notation of reactions by bandmates, significant others, and audiences.
- Continued, increasingly strident statements of undying devotion to current basses.
- A few months of silence.
- Realization that current basses just don't get played much any more.....

Hey, I only count 10 steps, isn't there supposed to be 12? Oh, sorry that's for recovery, my mistake!

After seeing the green one Dave LaRue had - I went to the EBMM site to see what color. It was not offered and I saw that the replacements for the Desert Gold (Fire something I think) are also gone. And the light blue.

How often do the colors change?

When the boss decides it's time to change.

The current palette is, sadly, smaller than it was not long ago, and overall more muted. Sign of the times, I think... the colors that aren't selling get axed.

However, there are still some drop-dead gorgeous colors available for the Bongo. Candy Red is fantastic, for example.

I thank my lucky stars I got a Desert Gold bass while they were still available.

la Rue's green bass, by the way, is an original Dargie Delight... not a regular production color.

The reason I love my BONGO is that it was a thinly veiled excuse for my husband to buy another bass. ;) Of course, that means that I can "play" it whenever I want. Realize, however, that I can barely hold one string down without extreme effort.
