Reflex and your Little Sting Ray Too.. The H and nothing but the H.

A question and invited comments to the group about contemplative thoughts on the choices we have to satisfy our enormous bass jones - And boy have our choices gotten better exponentially in the last few years with EBMM or What!

Now I got BALLS a plenty...Ray HH 4 and 5 and a Bongo HS..

However,

I went to GC the other day, damned if I didn't pick up one of them Classics and thought...wow...you can only get "that" sound right here with "this".

Thinking about that H again. Simply perfect.

Came back here to the boards, to watch some videos featuring the H:

BP playing with Johnny Hiland (Big Al H), and then discussing the single H-ee-ness that one has, then a 2010 NAMM interview with BP calling the STERLING Classic a new "Point and Shoot" bass...

The BP playing Little Wing with Luke and Steve ! HOLY Blue Bongo.

The Bongo H with those sweet curves, boy do I love the body..

And then of course the Reflex and Classic Sting Rays.

I already KNOW I need one of each...but I'm just sitting here in H therapy wanting to know if anyone is thinking about these things on occasion?

If you're pining for H love...where do you turn? And Why...

I do think way more often about that than I should (time would be better spent rehearsing...), and always come to this conclusion: I like the HH combo, because it is the single H plus more. However, if I'd need to choose "the one and only single H bass" it must be a StingRay. I think the other EBMM models are cool with their own specific and characteristic pickup combos.
OTOH, I guess it would be cool to have each model in a single H config... I bet they all have their own voice...

I was recently in the market for a bass and made my decision by asking myself the following questions:

* What bass can you buy that doesn't sound like ANYTHING else?
* What bass can you buy that NOTHING ELSE really sounds like?

There's only one answer -- a Single H Stingray.

So that's what I bought and I'm loving it.

If the single H bongo won't cover your gig you need to practice more. :D

I have several of these to turn to and they all have their individual attributes.............but if I really want simple single H bliss, my new Classic does the trick. I may still be suffering from the after effects of the GAS I had waiting for this thing to arrive, but I have been playing it for a month or so now, so hopefully I'm level headed about it!

The 2 band EQ is just great and you can easily move between bassy thump, clicky 8th note rock, root and 5th country, and vibrant slap sound without altering a thing except the way you strike the strings. A truly great creation........and possibly the reason quite a few of us got into MM basses in the first place.

I've been on the lookout for a single H Bongo for many months now, but I've decided the single H Big Al is a better choice for me. Mahogany body like my 30th Anniversary Ray, and a more versatile preamp than the Bongo with active/passive and series/parallel options. I plan to order one with the roasted maple neck package in the very near future.

The Big Al single H has a 4-band EQ as opposed to the 3-band EQ on the Bongo single H.

I also love my Sterling 5 single H.

could not have said it better myself, and it's super simple to boot! i felt funny the first show i did with my Classic, perhaps trepidation or nervousness is a more eloquent way of putting my sentiments. i felt that way until the FOH guy piped in through the monitors and said, "wow, great sounding bass dude! i'm not eq-ing it at all!" that put me at ease.

although everyone else are such fanatics that i want to try all the single H models myself. i don't think these guys can go wrong!
