Bongos Are Cool......

That color has been called many things, but it really is trans green. It's never been very green, even when it was brand new -definitely more of a mustard yellow (thus the name, plus he's always seemed vaguely German for some reason).

The neck was off for easy shipping.

For you noobz, "some" of the story (but not nearly all of it) is here:

I left out some details that now escape me, like Rex owning Heinz but never actually taking possession, which also happened, I think, with the guitar player in my band.

Oh, and bassmonkeee being employed as a Heinz Mule and so on.
 
But the fact remains Bongos are the coolest basses ever built. Best sounding easy to play and once strung with acme flats God even loves a Bongo.

Hah, reading this I realize that I had Heinz for about 3 years, and also that you need to add the last chapter to the story. I men latest of course.

Also, I must add that Heinz is indeed a beast of a SR5.

Heinz sounds more like a slut to me. He'll play with anyone. Kind of like us bass players. :eek:

It is a nice piece of wood -and the grain helped bring Heinz home when he was hanging in a Guitar Center. One of the old Pit guys sent me an email with a photo after seeing it hanging in the used section - "Could this be Heinz?"

We all thought he was gone forever after being traded to GC.

But that grain on the front, especially on the upper horn? Hard to mistake for any other bass.

Owen (2.5 years old) finally gets his moment in the studio with Dan and Jack and Heinz.

His eyes are not always that scary.
 
I tried to buy a trans green SR5 in 2001, what I ended up with was trans teal, I kept her anyway... Still wish I would have retuned it for the color I wanted. This Heinz, or trans green. But the teal was really cool at the time.
