Bongos really aren't that bad

Hey, I have every intention of keeping my SR5 forever. The lefty Bongo on the way isn’t meant to replace anything, it’s another flavor. Hell I still have my first MIM taco bass, I would never play it now, but it might come in handy for something, emergency boat oar, practical joke, or if I’m ever in one of those videos where the band is playing in the rain etc.

The Bongo vs. SR5 thing to me is kind of like “some days you feel like a nut, some days you don’t.” :D

Psycho

Just ribbin' ya, urwordsbreakmed(icalapparatusoncontact). :D
Its cool sometimes when I go back and read what I wrote It makes no sense to me either lol. thats whats really horrible.

flame on!!

don't sweat it ....I got into a little bitchfest with Mingus bass because I suggested that the Bongo isn't perfect

I've tried some differant strings on my Bongo and ,in my opinion, you should be using Stainless steel strings to temper the dark profile of the Bongo .I was using a Tobias 5 on my gig and switched to the Bongo 4 (single ,hum with piezo)The Ernie Ball strings that came with it were great for a week and then sort of lost their zing.I tried a few other sets but finally settled on the strings I use for the Toby...La Bella Super Steps. The only unfortunate thing ...the Super Steps cost a lot! They do last a long time though(with some Fast Fret)

I always wonder why Guitar strings were like 5 dollars and bass strings like 20-50

Raw material cost and manufacturing complexity. First, weigh a set of bass strings and compare the weight to a set of guitar strings. There's your raw material cost. Secondly, because of their greater diameter, the winding process for bass strings is more complex and requires manufacturing to more accurate tolerances. Also, guitar strings have at least 2, sometimes 3 strings in the set that are not wound, so those strings are comparatively easier (and hence cheaper) to manufacture.

not to mention that their are multiple wraps.....

Rookie glad you mentioned it...Love your post that when you reread your posts that even you dont always understand what youve said but here is another post from you that is over 25 posts and now about costs of guitar vs bass strings.

One of the reasons why Bass strings are more expensive is that bass players are easier to take advantage of....

Two pickup bass photos will probably be tues torture next week...The lads in the factory are burning the nammm deadline midnight oil with the largest product introduction in the companies history

to quote a great man....."Woo-Hoo!!"

Geez, I just thought bass strings were more expensive because every bass player has to have his own individual string set. Who'd a thunk it that it was more work to make them?

And kid your SR 5 can't own anything. It would get all scratched up in a fight for that title. Heinz is the bad boy of SR 5's LOL

I beg to differ my bass damn sure owns you lol

Heinz is the bad boy of SR 5's

You know, I think this is probably true.

I had to laugh last week when I was fortunate enough to be on the phone with BP and Dargin and we were talking about Stingray 5s....I said, "When I bought Heinz..." and then it occured to me that why in God's name would Sterling or Scott know about Heinz? So I said, "Wait, let me explain...."

And Sterling laughed and said, "Oh, I know Heinz. Scott, don't you think that was the ugliest color we ever made?"

I felt honored.

Or.....something.
