everywhere i look i see matching headstock bongos and i'm really not a fan, but BC lists a 5er limited edition radiance red with black headstock. WOW does it ever look sweet.

So what's the deal with bongo headstocks, are non-matching an option?

The first two limited editon colors for Bongos were Radiance Red and Envy Green. Both of these models came with black headstocks with gold lettering.

After that, all of the limited editions have come with matching headstocks and the limited designation implemented some other way.

The only non-matching headstocks you'll find on Bongos these days are the special super-cool one offs made with Rosewood necks, and such.

There is no non-matching headstock option available for Bongos. Never say never for the future, but if you hold your breath, all you're gonna get is a headache and a cheap rush.

Woohoo! what a rush, great idea thanks!

my quest to find a non-matching bongo is begining then. If only BC could ship new instruments to Canada! I unfortunately undertsand EBMM policy for international shipping but it would be cool to have exceptions for out of stock limited editions that are still on shelves like this one.

please don't take this as a complaint, just thinking out loud.

Wasn't there talk of introducing exactly that exception a while back?

I'll ask the $64k question:

Hey BP or other folks in the know, is there any way to do a dealer transfer on new but out of production instruments across international borders?

Are you sure they even still have the Bongo in question in stock? Bass Central often has basses on their website that are no longer available. You could be looking for a way to buy a vapor-Bongo.

that's what i just found: http://www.ernieball.com/forums/music-man-guitars/24491-pair-20th-silos-5.html

no word on the limited edition bongo.

Maddog, i would be curious for both dealer transfer and international purchase. If it is still available could i buy it straight from BC.

thanks all :)

In order to better serve the customer, we have a new policy: any dealer (that means you, Pete, Beaver, Brent, Colin, et al) is permitted to sell limited instruments provided that it has been 24 months since its premiere. (i.e. at a NAMM show)
That's pretty clear I think. Rad Red with black headstock was limited, and it's been more than 2 years...unless the policy has been changed after that post...

On a Bongo? Well, the Radiance Red as a Ltd Ed is from the first year the Bongo was in production, so there can't be too many of them out there in the wild.

Sorry to hear it was gone, even if I am not terribly surprised.
