Why is MM sticking with the most boring and bland colours? The exciting ones orange, blue, green, red, silver sparkle etc discontinued yet these sell like hotcakes.

It's not so expensive to take a 'boring' color to a painter and ask them to paint it anyway you want. After all these years of playing, the guitar color for me is not that important. But that's just me.

So one night, back when sabertooth tigers stalked the tar pits near modern-day Los Angeles, Big Poppa and I were talking about green basses.....well, it's a long story.

What ksandvik said goes for me, too. Black, white, (subdued) red, (subdued) blue, sunburst -- all work for me. Anything hotter and, I don't know, the bands I've been in for the past several years don't need or want all that attention on the bass player. I even get a little self conscious playing my white SR, 'specially if the other players are "wearing" more-conservative colors. That thing lights up like a roman candle when they hit the lights hard because of all the flake in it.

Now, if I were in a cowpunk band with a bunch of lunatics, that'd be another story.

I hated seeing all of the colors discontinued too but EBMM felt it was the best thing to do for business. I obviously don't do their books so I trust what they are saying is true. I don't like it but I understand it.

Funny complaints... If I had a billion dollars and if G.A.S. translated 1:1 into guitar purchases, EBMM (and their competitors) wouldn't have to worry about economics because I'd just take one of almost everything...

Guys, I suspect that BP gets it. He likes outlandish stuff, crazy colors, making stuff that no one else can or will make (see:BoNgo). I certainly feel you on this. But it's been explained so many times now that I can see the boss is tired of hearing it, and you all know - or should be now - that the market drives these finish decisions. Hell, I'm retired Navy, bitching is an art form, but we know the answer and we know the background and let's just close this one up and move on.
