Does anyone buy Cds anymore? Anyway here is a promo for the new Born Of Osiris.

Like the vocals or not you cannot deny the nice video shots of Lee Mc Kinny and Jason Richardson and their BFR Music Man JP's...Check em out! Oh' sorry the bass player has a Bongo 5....too..

Can't wait to pick up my copy of this. Awesome band, although a fairly steep transition to liking the vocals.

BoO rules big time. I absolutely love that guitarsolo in the beginning btw. Freaky, melodic, ryhtmic, robotic and organic all in one. I always make myself NOT put this kind of music in my carstereo since it makes me drive like a loony.

I must be getting old....in as much as I am okay with the music, i can't listen to that style of vocals.

Footage of these guys is pretty awesome and I like their tone on the lead sections. Mike, has nothing to do with getting old man...I'm 25 and all this yelling does not make sense to me...but whatever. Look at Symphony X...those guys get pretty danm heavy but the singer can actually SING.

I always see it in another perspective. Rapping is not singing either but another way to express oneselve vocally. I love grunts/screams, but am equally a fan of Bruce Dickinson, Kamelot, SymfX, etc. I love how the guy from Opeth mixes it up.

Anyway: just had a listen to the entire new Born of Osiris album "The Discovery" and OMG, that disc is INSANELY good. Just plain awesome. Got goosebumps all over from the brilliance that is track 1 "Follow the signs". You need 6 ears and a dual brain to pick up all the different stuff that's going on at the same time :). The riffing and the rythem-section can just kill you, math-metal at times but groovy too. Lots of cool melodies and really nice harmonies in the leads. It's intelligent and fresh. Well done!

The kind of music you can't possibly explain the appeal of. Love it or hate it :).

I don't know how these guys tune to Drop G on a 25.5 scale guitar and get it to intonate correctly. Or who on earth they get the B string (tuned to G) through the tuning peg. They must file it or something.

They tune to GDGCFAD using 10-56 Ernie Ball 7 String Regulars...

Really? .056 tuned to G? I think I have set of Not Even Slinky's .012-.056 tuned to Bb on a 25.5" and it's kinda loose :)

It's an album for some good headphones or a really nice stereo I found out btw. In the car, on a laptop or with a generic stereo you miss A LOT of the keyboards, high-end harmonies and other top-end stuff, sounds kinda mushed compared to my living room set. It's also mixed LOUD and meant to be played that way. Reveals a lot of plain awesomeness.

EDIT: found this studio-update on ultimatemetal.com:

I just ignore the seventh string (G).

The new album is tuned to as follows - GDGCFAD. This is a more standard dropped tuning for a seven. So in turn its not too unusual. It also makes the writing problem you mentioned a little easier : ) I hope this answers your question properly!

56 to G?? That would be pretty floppy, but if it floats their boat, more power to em'. I use a 56 as my B string on my 7 in standard tuning (B). I couldn't imagine dropping that down 2 full steps.
