Thanks Dr and Skerwo- that trem is a looker! Kinda hard to see the remaining holes. Nice finish on that axe! That fretboard got some lovin' for sure! (the perloid looks good on that too! ;) Looks like you had locking tuners on that axe? Do you remember what they were? AJ said if I changed tuners, I would likely have to drill some pilot holes...I'm not into altering the guitar any more than it has been, so I'll leave the tuners I guess.the Schallers are great on my LIII.
Thanks for the direction DrKev..will look into these other Wilkinson trems.

The tuners are the Schaller locking like the ones used on the newer EBMMs. For me the best tuners.

Oh, what I forgot to say: with the Hipshot, the holes for the strings on the backside plate didn´t work anymore, the Hipshot needs 6 holes in a row.

Hi Tubes4Tone

I also have a Silhouette Special from 96 and one of the old (annoying) Grover tuners just broke, so I have to put new ones in.

What model of Schaller locking tuners do you use, and did they fit right in or did you have to drill extra holes?

And did you swap them recently?

Thanks!

Best regards, Esben

I have 2 Silo Specials. One is a 99 & the other is a 96. My 96 model is a deep Purple with the Wilkinson vintage trem and it "did have" the Grover tuners. I absolutely HATED the Grover tuners so I ordered the Schaller locking tuners from EBMM...HUGE IMPROVEMENT !!

I really like the Wilkinson vintage trem...ALOT. So it WILL remain on this Purple Silo. My pickups are stock for the time being but if I change pickups....I will stick with DiMarzio. Love those pickups !!

I hope this helps.
