Hi all.

As the title says, pulled the trigger today on a hardtail Super Sport. I tried as many models as I could and zeroed in on a pair of Luke iii's, a Floyd SS and the hardtail.

I had all but decided the Lukes were what I wanted. Then, in the space of ten minutes, both push-push pots on the Lukes quit latching down in the non-boost position. Both were less than a week old. Weird, but not a big deal.

I started playing the Hardtail more and found I preferred the lower output and the snap on the low strings with the stop tailpiece. I have played teles for 30 odd years and the snap is something I have gotten used to.. Anyway, the SS won out and I really couldnt be happier. I just wish I had bought one sooner.

Ah! I better post some pics, post haste! I bought it at lunch today. I'll have to take it home and get some good shots.
The redburst finish is not something I ever thought I'd buy but the tone and playability were just so good..
I agree, I will probably be buying more, and soon.

Thanks for the gracious welcome, guys. I still need to get the pics up today.
I took the new guitar to a session last night. I wasnt sure what to expect. I was just excited to see how it sounded in that environment as compared to my regular old gear (strat, tele, ric, couple acoustics).
Very nice! I had to knock down 800-1.5k a little bit and dial back some gain,, thats about it. The SS played great and the split position 2 was wonderful for some little ornamental stuff. Its always a struggle for me not to try to make new gear sound like what I already have--its just the sound Im used to. As I get to know what the guitar does best for me, I'll post some clips.
I'll be gigging with it this weekend to get more familiar with it. I gig about 48-50 weekends a year these days since the wife and kids got me off the road-- still playing a bunch but not far from home. In the three piece band this weekend it will be fun to have this much big sound from just the guitar! (The tele kind of needs a bit of dressing to fill out some stuff)

Overall---Digging it!!

Finally took pictures

The color scheme is growing on me. My tele is a very old, battered butterscotch and the strat has basically no finish left--hammered! This is really a departure!

Tonight is the first night of live gigging with it. As I said earlier, I took it to a session and dug it. Now I get to hear it in the environment I really love: LIVE!!
Its also my birthday today so metaphysically, I have some irrationally high expectations.

Duke Silver is a musical genius. "Smooth as Silver", best album. "Hear my Fluid" , favorite song (I made up the song title)

Beautiful! Congrats on your first EBMM and welcome to the forums. Let us know how you get on with it tonight. Bet it will be fanastic. These guitars play so well it elevates my playing big time.

Played the new Super Sport both Friday and Saturday night. I really enjoyed the playability and the tones of the split positions. The bridge only was a bit high mid peaky and the neck only position a bit dark but eq at the amp took care of it pretty quickly. I may want to try a few different pickups just for kicks. I tend to "hear" low output pickups more to my liking.

Very good response from band mates as to the hipper look of the guitar. They think the old tele looks too country. Oh well
