I've often said that the eight or ten people who love Sabres REALLY love them. But then they already (mostly) have their Sabres.

And they know who they are.

Have you considered a Big Al 5?

Big Poppa reminds me a little of Frank Lloyd Wright; when asked what his favorite building was, he always answered "the NEXT one"!

I really appreciate BP's progressive nature when it comes to new technology and breaking the mold while appreciating a few, yet important 'traditions'. It's fun, functional, and exciting... or as an engineer might say, "firmness, commodity and delight".

Thanks for understanding. I appreciate the passion and excitement...but remember the things you cats urge us to make we have to pay actual cash to tool up to manufacture, promote and distribute. Then we have to assess demand and we almost never assess demand from the forum....It is not a slam but we have to please much much more than the diehards to make something economically feasible

I know you guys are a private company, but I love hearing about the business side of things. You tend to slip a few tid-bits here in there (black instruments at 40%??!!).

(Because you guys don't have enough on your plates already...) How about a little series of articles or blogs on specific "A day in the life of..." specific jobs at Music Man? What someone in the design crew has to contend with. Or in marketing?

Or even, seeing a new instrument through the market research, design stages, marketing, to the making and delivery?

Okay, I guess I'm dreaming a bit here and it's a lot to ask, but it's interesting to hear how a company functions making some of my favorite stuff, especially when I have no experience in the area, so anything you guys want to divulge is greatly appreciated and highly informative.

And on topic: I've only seen one Sabre bass in person. I was young and I didn't play it. The owner seemed pleased with it. It appears that the current HH models have it covered though.

Yeah, that's true! I was thinking more in depth and less of teaser photos and us whining for more info! :D

Even to give the story after the fact (after the instrument has been developed, released and on the market for a while). But now that you mention it, we have had quite a bit of information spread through this forum.

Uhh, as you were... ;)

Yup - think about the Bongo. There isn't much we don't know about how that came to be. Pretty fab, isn't it?

Yes, however, in my defense I only started hanging around here after the Bongo was released. Which is not to say I can't go back and look through the threads.

This is funny because it usually comes down to this - and I'm one of "the eight or ten people who loves Sabres" but unfortunately I don't currently have one, due to the usual buying and selling of various basses - then realized, "dang, shoulda kept that Sabre from back in '85!" I had one of the EB/MM Sabres around 1988 or 1989, but sold it because I got more into playing 5 string - and couldn't afford to keep the Sabre AND the new 5 string.

Well, like BP said, "We actually have our plates full with other new and exciting stuff." Getting ready for NAMM 2011 already? I wonder what prototypes are in the works right now? More GAS for 2011!

As far as the Sabre goes, I'll keep checking ebay for the right one with a RW board.
