Hey Big Poppa,
Sorry if I'm delving into personal stuff here but have you and John Myung ever talked basses? I would think that with JP having a Signature EB that it must have come up. JM used to play a Stingray during his 4 string days, plus recent recordings with a SR5 and his new Yamaha Signature has a big old humbucker a la Musicman. His bass has now been modded with another pickup in the bridge position. With the new Bongo 6 coming out I was just curious.
I'm not sure if this was talked about already. I'm sure you can't discuss endorsements. I met John a few years ago but never got the chance to chat about gear.

I remember thew first time I heard/saw Myung...... I was at my guitar players house and he had a Dream Theater DVD.... I was amazed at Myung, my jaw dropped...amazing talent. Would be very nice to see him playing a MusicMan, it was match Pertucci and his MusicMan.

While we're at it, we need to get Flea back playing a StingRay, I read in a recent article that Flea said he still likes Musicman basses, and they are very nice instruments, but it was M**ulus that came to him and asked about making his sig model. He says only reason he uses M**ulus is because they dont have a wood neck and he doesnt have to worry about warping when playing outdoor venues, then going to indoor venues.......

I know a lot of you guys think this guy is the shiznit (and I realize he can absolutely play), but I really don't care if he gets an endorsment with Hondo Starter Pack basses.

Just IMO, YMMV, ETC.

Here's another take on the Flea story, but first, Tony Levin.

No sticky

Tony was with Music Man prior to our buying Music Man. when we took control Tony was the first artist that I contacted personally. I invited him to SLO and he stayed at my old house The Fun Ranch (Fun Ranch Boogie..) We got along real well and he has been a reall pleasure to work with. At firsst he didnt want to know anything technical and really didnt want to try much new. I made him some unique 'fashion basses"
He has gotten more adventurous lately and is loving the BOngo and went through all of the the two pick up basses at the NAMM show this year. It is funny to watch important artists at the listening station with headphones on focusing just like a little kid

Flea was using the basses and really didnt have any direct connection with us. I invited him to slo to play in a The Mike Krukow Charity Golf Tournament ( former Cal Poly Alumni and Major League pitcher now broadcaster for the San Francisco Giants...has an orange axis) and he accepted. He showed up late barefoot and without a shirt golf clubs or balls. we got on pretty good. From there we supplied him with alot of basses and I hated ihis bass smashing phase. He left over money. He wanted a Flea signature Stingray and I said that wouldnt be right by Leo, Tony, Louis and all of the other stingray players. He said that his drummer was going to make a 100k from snare drum royalties and he wanted to make a cut on stingrays. I thought I had him calmed down but then I got wind of the Modulous deal and the last conversation was his atorney trying to tell me what I had to do and I said the only thing I really get to do is hang up on you....last contact. I wish that Flea and us could have split under better circumstances. I was right though

The funny story about Flea is that I asked him to do an ad for Slinky Bass strings that had just come out. he had the strings claimed to like them and I had a wacky shot of him and it said "Flea's Gone Slinky" The ad came out and Flea said GHS called and was bummed and he didnt know he was doing a string ad.....

I don't think you will get a straight answer re: Myung playing EBMM in the future. Read this thread: http://www.ernieball.com/forums/music-man-basses/20791-john-myung-ernie-ball-music-man-not-about-bongo-6-a.html

What kind of straight answer? I have met John. I have never talked to him. We sent him basses that he used exclusively on the soon to be released cd. He loves the bongo loves the sr5 but I have had zero conversations with him. I also dont steal artists from other companies. If John likes the BOngo 6 and would play it we would be happy campers.

Does that mean John used an EBMM on (let's say roughly all) the tracks off the new CD?

Sounds like we'll have nothing to worry about in terms of his tone on the new cd!

Awesome!!
