Thats a good question....too bad we know what the answer will be. Especially since I have my 04 Silo and am about to gain one Radiance Red JP in the nearer future...and neither one have them.

Apparently the compensated nut is Quite a bit Wider than a Regular Nut and so you would have to cut the neck and make it fit ....unless they come out with a new design it wont happen ,thats the beauty and sometimes downside of progress BUT it make you wanna buy a new Guitar hehehehe i know i do Although my MM's stay in great tune already i really would like to try one with the Comp nut to see the difference If my info is wrong please correct me

Ya, I've thought (earvana) about that too, but they don't have an OEM for the Axis and the retrofit is fugly..not worthy of mine fine axe!
(Not to mention that it is fixed to the original nut by screws...me no like)

So, I'm holding out for the real deal-hence my thread.

As far as cutting the fingerboard-you're probably right. I don't think the comp nut is a shelf design.

Lenny I have the Earvanna and I have the comp nut on my AL.

I've read all about this principle on the Earvanna site and seen all the evidence and graphs purpoting it to be the next best thing since sliced bread.

Enough people have asked for them and EB have duly obliged.

Would I get one retro fitted to my (battered to hell and back Les Paul) - No.

The screws do give you an element of adjustment - it really isn't all that bad looking but I would say that the EB one easily wins the Beauty pageant !!

Hi Guys....

Lenny is correct, the compensated nut can not be retro-fitted to your pre-comp nut Music Man instruments, as they have different routings. Unfortunately it just isn't possible without modification.

Cheers

I believe that you can call customer service any buy replacement compensated EBMM nuts. The problem is knowing the correct placement for the compensated nut so that you remove the correct amount of material from the fretboard. I believe that there are forum members who have done this operation on their Ball, but I cannot remember who has done it. I hope they chime in!

Hi Jimbo..... no go my friend. We only sell them if they are replacing a damaged comp. nut on an instrument that was originally equipped with one. Its along the same lines of adding a piezo system to your non-piezo SR.

Orange Channel some east coast skepticism.....

Spud Earvana and I are in a bitter fight and I cant talk now but we hadthe molded compensated nut first. When it goes to court and we win I will tell you more.

Orange If there is sufficient demand and people understand that their guitar gets routed then we may...just too much on the table to start that retrofitting program now.

I hope you win this fight BP, I would hate to see the comp nut go away... It's really a cool design

Hey keep me in mind. I'm always on a quest for a more "in-tune" instrument! No disrespect in my original post meant BP...just seemed like I knew the answer beforehand (probably since I bugged you guys on that awhile back...). Rock!

Thanks BP. I suspected there was some litigation at play here...;)

Last question:
Assuming the legal stuffs pans out, would you forsee the nut being sold with instructions for retrofitting or would it be strictly a "send the whole guitar to the factory" deal?

Good luck in court.

Jon's a great dude too. He's worked on a few of my pieces over the years...and they all have a considerable amount more of mojo afterwards...

Jon, worked on my AL and let me tell you he did an excellent job above and beyond what I would have expected. :)

I'd have to agree he dropped some mojo on it. :D
