I figure if i put a catchy intreaguing Title i'll get a lot of hits...

SO i've really be diving into the blues and modern day players who are drastically chainging the contemporary music scene on many platforms. One of which (and feel free to blast me if you must) I feel is John Mayer... I noticed that he uses EB strings... what guages does he use? And i've noticed that back in the HAYDAY... he used an EBMM Axis...

any imput?

Mayer's new cd is amazing... i've had it on rotation for two weeks now... back in the day he used an EBMM but i guess he went with F&*#er for some reason or another. Probably 'cause he didn't play the AL.

But I'm willing to bet that he has an EBMM that he brings out from time to time...

BP.. any insight on why he stopped playing EBMM?

Two thumbs up for Mayer and Bonamassa. I think Mayer catches a lot of crap for no good reason other than he's young and so freakin' talanted. When I was young, I would talk about how much I liked guys like Randy Rhoads & Steve Vai, and all the older cats would start all that "they don't play with feeling" crap. Don't envy the new young guys, be greatful that someone is putting out guitar music.
I dig John Mayer!

I saw Mayer some years ago, before I was into EBMMs, and IIRC, he played an EVH, Axis or Axis Super Sport for a couple songs. I think it was pink or lavender, hard to tell, plus since I wasn't an EBMM freak at the time, I didn't take notice like I would now. The guy has some chops...a lot to be said for a player who knows his way around an acoustic, playing solos on electric. Lots of double stops, moving bass lines, arpeggios, open strings, and playing with fingers, even during solos.

I've already posted my annoyance at how he can use his thumb on the A-string and still play cool stuff with the rest of his hand. The guy is tall, too...I seem to remember that the EVH/Axis looked like a toy on him. He's probably 6'4" or so, a Strat even looks smallish on him.

one of the things i love about Joe is how passionate he is about playing guitar, he seems always willing to talk about his influences and how great playing guitar is. gotta be admired. guitar seems to be his whole life and it shows, no snobbery in him at all which is GREAT to see. attitude is so important, i know of so many really good players who lose out with their crappy attitude.

Mayer and how he took over my stereo.

I downloaded an illegal copy of Mayer's album because waiting for it to be released was too much for me. I blared that in my car until the official release then blared the official copy.

I know that he played an MM90 soapbar loaded Axis Super Sport. I've seen the picture kicking around from time to time. If I can find it, I'll post it for sure!

Damnations!

The place that had the photo posted no longer has the photo posted. All there is is a little white box with a red X in it. No dice on the picture kiddies; but I'll keep looking!

Mayer is playing the Forum in London in October - already got tickets and Continuum is in constant rotation in my house.

Another guy to look out for is a UK blues player called Matt Schofield. I saw him support Derek Trucks and he smoked. Great tone - Strat into Two Rock (like Mayer).
