Question for BP -

How is the Sterling 5 selling? Or, maybe it's too soon to tell? I love the bass - got two of them and one on the way. All I know is that I'm very glad that you guys did a Sterling 5 - I had inquired about it a couple years ago, like many other guys probably did. I frequently have GAS pains, so I know I'll be looking for more Sterling 5's in the future in different colors and pup configurations - and I would hate to see it disappear if it doesn't sell well enough.

Hey Brad,

The Sterling 5 fretless on order, is it lined or UNlined? I'm going to order a trans gold Sterling 5 HH/P unlined and I would love to see what yours looks like. Any idea when it's coming?

I need to ping a certain guy and find out if a certain company will turn loose of a certain Blue Pearl Sterling 5 to which I have laid claim.

Heh.

I must concur with Mr. Dell's sentiments above.

John -

The fretless on order is lined - I've been playing a Tobias KB5 fretless - converted from fretted and I had the repair shop put in black lines (goes with the black hardware and looks pretty cool), so I've gotten used to lines. I never played upright - learned on electric fretted, and although I have a good ear, I don't play fretless enough to be totally comfortable without the lines. Hey, Jaco had lines - just kidding - he could've played just fine without - he didn't have a choice back then since he tore out the frets himself. I think the new fretless is due in August. I'm planning on getting the fingerboard finished in a clear poly. I had this done on the Tobias and it's great + no worries about tearing up the board - just get a refin when needed.

I got the call on Friday that my (first) Sterling 5 has finally arrived. I'm picking it up on Tuesday. My second one arrives in another 4 weeks.

Oh goodie goodie!

What are the specs on the new Sterling 5? And the other one due in 4 weeks? I'm all over these Sterling 5's - got 2 and 1 on the way! My Tobias KB 5's are staying home lately!

I picked up my Rolls Burgundy Sterling 5 this afternoon. I was quite reserved about the color since ordering it (5 mths ago). But I was very happly surprised when I opened the case and removed it from the plastic bag it was in. The color is dark and rich as I hoped it would be. The rosewood fretboard is gorgeous and the matching headstock tops it off. :D

Then I took it and plugged it in, My SR5 has always impressed me, but this bass absolutely rocked. The wait was well worth it. Can't wait till my LE arrives. :)

Photos to follow as soon as I can put the dam thing down to take them.

Here's a photo of my new Sterling 5 H in Rolls Burgundy.

This is a very difficult color to capture in a photo. So I put it on a stand and placed it beside a window and kept my flash closed.

Doesn't do it nearly enough justice, but it gives one the idea of what it looks like.

The rosewood they are using on the fingerboards is beautiful! Mine has really great color and grain, sort of looks like cocobolo.
