I'm planning to get a lone star soon though...the lead tone that Timmons gets out of his has set the gears in motion for what will likely be a very long tone quest.

I thought he was using Stilettos for leads?

He's using both. It can be hard to pick out which one he's using sometimes, but I know for sure he's using it in these vids:

Since this has become a hijack the hijacker thread and it doesn't look like BP is going to chime into this one (He could be busy I suppose!;))
I might as well chat amps here.
The thread really wasn't for me get an additional idea of what to buy. He has access and experience to what seems like all things musical, so I was just curious his opinion.

Well, to tide you over until BP chimes in...

Bogner has me really impressed. I don't see it happening soon, but I'd LOVE to own a Shiva combo

I love what Andy does with the Lonestar. To me this would be a very flexible amp. It is the more expensive of the 3 I'm considering though.
I can see myself ending up with the Budda.
The Bogners seem very nice as well, but are more money than I think I want to spend at the moment. I'd rather have a second Music Man. ;)

Buy a Z! I have a Prescription ES Combo, and it does everything I need it to, with the exception of maybe... heavy metal. In that instance, I just throw in a distortion pedal and go to town

I was really looking into these. But the more questions I asked, then more I got reply that it was more a vintage type amp. I don't do tonnes of metal. but want the option to do so.

Fog,

What no Diezel???
Check out a Splawn....very nice indeed. Basically a hot rodded Marshall that is just killer....not priced in the boo-teak range either.

These are more a metal amp are they not?

Know what foggy, do check out Ceria Tone amps, they are basically a Malaysian company that makes clones of some of the more famous amps, their prices are downright cheap too, and Nik has sold his amps all over the world. Too bad he doesn't make any high-gain amps though...

Their Muchle$$ is darn good! And check out their reviews on Harmony Central, all of them are just great!

CeriaTone.Com - DIY Guitar Tube Amp

Too bad that some idiotic people on the net played down the possibility of Nik making the Dumble clone available to the masses... It just made me want a Ceriatone more to see what the fuch that these fuch-ing boutique amp makers are fuch-ing scared about...

I say "Fuch You!" to them...
