At the risk of seeming like a total suckup of our leader, ya'll need to read this pronto! This post really sums up what many of us ( middle aged players who have been around the business for a while..) have experienced, but perhaps haven't had the benefit of a true " big picture" to really get a handle on things.

BP, you really need to share this with others outside of our sphere. Perhaps the Harvard Business School, or...?

I'd say he's a savvy guy. You have a unique perspective on this ( and several other businesses...), but more importantly IMHO, you aren't afraid to make your case. Many folks these days edit themselves to much if you ask me. They either want to be PC, or are treading a fine line because it seems to be safer than taking a stance on an issue.

If we as a culture are going to wade out of this mess we've created, it's going to take people with insight, vision and the balls to follow through on something of substance for the greater good....

After 25 years of this, you could just sit back and do whatever it is most invisible empire builders do. The fact that you not only take to the keyboard to talk to your customers, but take the time to frame a well written essay says a lot about you as a man, and an American.

Well written? Thanks but Tese are brain to fingers stream of conscious....
Here is the rub.....Remember in "A few Good Men" when jack Nicholson said "you cant handle the truth" THats the story in a nutshell...Im not saying that Jack or my stories or take are the truth but they are our truths and people want soundbites and bad news that affects them to be gentile and misfortune to others of a higher profile to be graphic.

Sound Bite and Tabloid. Marketing...tell the people something that reinforces their perception even if it isnt reality....Wonder what it would be like if our leaders of either party made a new years resolution to make perception match reality?

The other interesting thing and I am going to do a blog on this is the evaporation of "off the record" or the filters you have to have because of the camera phone and the mini videos and you tube...When I give a clinic I have to be so very careful because someone can just post a part of my comments that are honest and frank but may offend Frank if you know what im saying. We have abandoned the concept of experiencing something and committing it to memory ....In the old days you could effect change and policy in business with the "official position" and then massage the backstory in meetings or in person....now the carpet has to match the drapes.
