If some people think we are fanboys have you ever been to the Gibson or Fender forums. Sheesh. They are forking over big money for a design that hasn't hanged in 50 years or so... and quality that is declining at a exponential rate I'm just saying... Oh and don't get me started on relicing...

BP - thanks for this thread. Without beating a dead horse, I'm glad a distinction is now made between (respectful) criticism and bashing. It's great to see the owner of a company embracing and addressing everything that comes with growth.

I'm fairly new to EBMM guitars - picked up two over the course of the last year. I've been impressed with the quality of the guitars, the information available here on this forum from members and from EBMM employees on this forum. With regard to the latter, it is unique to the fora that I frequent.

I just wanted to say that this is a great place. Progress is good. Keep up the good work. :)

I don´t know how old everybody on the forum is but does anybody remember the time before internet?
I tried to get in contact with a big english amp company (sheriff or something police like in 1987 to date my Plexi amp, still waiting for their answer.....

So why all the moaning and negative stuff BP mentioned? I am very thankful for every information I get and even free...and fast and the inside stories.

So like in every family or group of people there is yingyang going on, I´m very dissapointed when things like the NorM stuff happen but like I said.

I am very thankful for the forum and I´m sure there is more to make it happen so peacefully than posting threads (from BPs point of view).

Mick

P.S. @BP: everyone over 8000 posts should be banned - fanboy alert;)

Good point from Beej about whether the person speaks English as a first language.
I think we should also bear in mind that the written word is harsher more often than not, than the spoken word.
I sometimes look at some of my posts and think Holy Moly that would have got you a D minus in English!
It is a great forum to be on and just who is this guy who keeps talking about AL's?;)

Up Wales Football Team!! - from a noose - they sucked!!

I have a few of rules, which I had forgotten for a while, and they generally help me to not be an ass on here, they don't always work, but they do help an awful lot.

1. I don't post after 2am on topics of debate. (after that time, I generally make mountains out of molehills)

2. If what I am about to say is negative towards an individual in any way, well, I just wont bother.(One day I may just wanna buy that beautiful MM you have!):D

3. I have to imagine you all at your computers, balls in hand.....naked;)

This is a great site owned and maintained by a company who makes great musical instruments.

It's the ONLY site of it's kind that I visit regularly and while I don't post as often as others (I just don't have that much to add...thus I don't say anything), I find most of the information here to be very valuable in one way or another.

The one thing I can say is that because of this very site, Pete DuBaldo will now get every penny I spend from this point forward on guitars. That little piece of information gave me the confidence to order and has now added another customer to both Pete and Ernie Ball.

I'm a complete nobody when it comes to the guitar. Odd are I'll never do much but plunk around but the fact that I bought the guitar I did *AND* know that if I have a question about said instrument, not only can this forum help with the answer but the answer may verily well come from the Big Guy himself...that means a lot!

I work hard for the money that I spend and that I decided to buy an EBMM JP6 and am currently putting aside $$ for an Axis...well that just about says it all doesn't it. I could have walked into at least four local places and dropped maybe half the money on what I can only presume would be *HALF* the guitar but I wanted something of quality and that would last! If one of my kids pick it up someday I'm secure in the knowledge that they're not going to be holding sawdust in their hands.

This place, this very thread, proves that I made the absolute correct decision.

Thanks for bein' there guys.!

Good Call, Mr Ball.

Your recent positive/diplomatic attitude towards some negative posts has been very good for this place.

Recently you've killed some 'fanboy' attacks with your open & level-headed responses...... Hats off to you.

The screen certainly provides a nice shield to some :

There has been plenty of unwarranted malicious posts recently that would have never been spoken in-person due to the likelihood of getting a smack in the mouth - and not having the balls enough to back it up.

There certainly are a lot of quick responses to posts that lean toward the negative side. One thing I always try to consider is how well the poster speaks English- there are so many people here from so many countries, many times the comments just don't translate all that well. Sometimes we look like jackasses ourselves when we jump on someone too hard. Post with respect, hopefully get respectful comments back.

And 100% that a good humorous comment is often the way to respond when you need to vent a bit :D

Man, it's gotten big around here! I can remember a few different waves of this forum ... people that have come and gone ... and I was late to the party too!

Y'all are a good bunch to hang out with. I have a great time at this place! (But it's a bitch on my wallet.)

Thanks for mentioning this Beej,

I love this forum i read it every day, i love my albert Lee guitar but i'm not a regular poster. Not speaking English as a first language has a lot to do with it.
I feel it is very hard for me to express exactly what i feel or want to say, even in my own language it's hard enough sometimes:p
You know when i do post, a lot of the times it takes me a half hour to finally click 'submid reply'
Then i re-read my post and i'd still have doubts about it and i will edit what i just wrote:D.

I have an opinion about a lot of matters discussed here but the 'not feeling able to say what i want to say' keeps me from expressing them most of the time.

Please don't let that stop you. I live in a bilingual world and sometimes I do have problems expressing exactly what I want to say in my non-native language, but it's worth it to make the effort.

Just know that I appreciate it and that I will defend you when English is not your first language.

English is my first language, and I express myself well enough, but I hold back writing anything critical on this board. Not saying saying it's the "fault" of the board... it is what it is, and I'm a member and guest of the host.

As a battle scared veteran of life I can only snicker at the whole fanboy thing. Right, like I need to kiss anyone's ass to win favor. Ain't gonna happen. When I say glowing things about these guitars, it's only because it's honestly what I believe. I'm an enthusiast, but no fanboy.

Thinking... there was only one time when you (BP) got in my craw. That's when I asked if EB had plans for 9.5 strings, and was told to get a micrometer and check my 9.5's against EB 9's; and another member in so many words called me a wuss for not being able to handle 10's, and you (BP) thanked him for covering. Yeah, that sorta pissed me off. It was and still is a good question. I gave the Hybrids a fair shake and they don't work for me. Neither do 9's or 10's. If memory serves, I was told it was no big deal if I choose another brand, since John Mayer uses EB. No big deal to me either, to go to another brand.

But that's small stuff, really. Overall, I have fun here and have made a few good buddies. No forum is trouble free. This one does really well, I think.

Candid..for a deep man you missed both marks..I didnt know that this was "tell me how poppa has hurt you thread" "Or lets regurgitate the past"...I also take exception to your recollection of said thread...so case closed.

Dizzy thank for the props but the only thing Im doing different is calling out the defenders when they cross the line.
