dave's hands are not acidic......
:D

BP, the same thing happened in GC PHX when I bought my SR30th..the person who played the thing before me had just eaten pizza or something...When I told the salesman that I didn't want to contract ebola by playing a limited edition bass in your store, he rolled his eyes and handed me a polishing cloth. I realize that Marty has his hands full trying to retain employees, but I think that these guys should at least be taught that some customers acidic sweaty hands can eat right through titanium! If employees can't wipe down the axes themselves, than hand the test-driving, pizza eating, Dave Larue wannabe a tube of Wonder Wipes, and have him (or her) clean up after themselves. (especially on the high-end items) IMHO
In my many visits to GCs' around the country, I have sadly seen way too many fine guitars and basses that have been ridden hard and hung up wet. -Capt. Don

I got also a story about GC. In fact it's not connected with guitars but with drums. Once upon a time my friend drummer wanted to buy bass drum pedal so he called GC (yeah guitar center - they have no shop area, in Poland they have only on-line shopping option). After few minutes he got all details and so on, but had to check his account first. So he called couple of minutes later and other guy said that the pedal they were talking about was used (!) and the price should be lowered...Then my friend asked to speak with the manager...and guess what? He recognized the man who had tried to sell him used item on normal price...I have no trust to GC since that happened. And when I read all this things here...well it's ridiculous how people care about things they try to sell.

in Hell... with cows...
unfortunatly alot of sellers don't grade past employees. any second hands item that looks new and came with an original box will be sold as new. or as "demo model" if it lacks the box...

SO I go into the new Guitar Center in Westwood California...Great store really fabulous First off I snap a pic of Tyler in the window,,(see dargies thread)_

\I go into the Platinum ROom and it was cool a coupla guitars and as I was leaving i saw stuck in a corner with fingerprints all over it and scratches on the pick up cover the Blue Bfr SR5 20th Serial number 50002....

It had the retail price on it and I asked around and nobidy knew the story..I told the story and next thing these guys are polishing away and put in the gloass case....

Good outcome to a story with potential for disaster...

Guitar Center is cool sometimes. The one in Boston near BU is pretty protective of their balls. They hang at least 8 feet above everyone out of harm's way.

I went to the Platinum Room at Cheetah's in Vegas last week. Is that the same?

Saw a BFR Petrucci in the Platinum Room at the Fountain Valley GC today. Gorgeous.

Did the merchandise look like it had been manhandled?

Man, a BFR 20th SR5. I have a 'regular' 20th SR5 and think it's about as special as it gets, but one of the blue BFRs?

Lord, Lord.

I was in tukwila GC a while back and they were hanging up high with some amps in front so you would need to ask someone to play them...keeps the kids who just want to play some metal riffs away..

say what you will, there is something to be said for the little guys who don't let punks abuse their merchandise.

you coming into my store is like you coming into my house. if a kid beat up my gear like they do at GC, I'd be having that kid for lunch. only difference is, the stuff at the store just happens to be for sale and my personal gear is not.

if people treated other peoples' property better than their own and these problems would not exist.

I'm not gonna lie. I was given a GREAT deal on a SR5 HS at a GC! Hugely discounted. When I pointed out that there were scratches on the pickguard, he ordered me a brand new one, let me take the current one with me for about a month, then called me to come pick up the brand new version fresh out of the box! Then GC took back the old scratched one!!!

That impressed me.
