...now, it's apparently Raz's turn. :D

Just wanted to let you all know that I've been around for the last few days in normal fashion, unlike the last few weeks, both due to the fact that I've been working like a dog, as well as the fact that my DSL was down for about 2 weeks, causing chances to access the Internet to be few and far between.

I see that we have a lot of new folks that came around since my last appearance; I say welcome to you. I am the other moderator on the board, and I did post on a daily basis, sometimes even numerous times a day, etc. However, since I've started working 50+ hour weeks, that has dropped off. I'm making it a habit to get back into the mix more now, no matter how much time I put in to make green over here.

In the last few weeks/month, etc. my project has disassembled, or should I say, I detached myself from it because of the fact that I'm just so busy to be a responsible factor in it, make practices, etc. You can say, "sorry to hear that, dude" all you want...while I appreciate the fact that you care, your concern, etc. I've been way too friggin busy to let it sting/care about it. I'll get things going again when I'm settled down on the work aspect.

As far as the buttercream/ANY new EBMM acquisition, that is on hold for now, as I have two things working against me, one being the fact that I'm loaning Mom money to get a flight out to Michigan to attend the funeral of my grandmother's sister (my mother's aunt), who passed away on Monday, as well as flying my girl out to Wisconsin this weekend for 11 days to visit her ailing grandmother. I had a premonition dream a while back about her going this summer, and it would be nice for her to see her once more before that happens. (My dreams like that usually come to pass, so I don't want to chance it, and regret it happening without any attempt to right things, etc.) So Pete, apologies on putting you through the motions before and coming up fruitless, but I gotta tend to more pressing issues, y'know?

*whew*

On lighter notes, the company that I work for is a great company, small, laid back, and a great group of people. It's a company called MacMedia; if I could shamelessly plug it, you can see our lame website here (LOL): http://www.macmediainc.com -- I do onsite support for these guys, with the occasional sit on the tech bench to do hardware repair (let me tell you guys sometime how much of a PITA it is to take apart a Powerbook to replace something inside of it!) Even though the job takes the life out of me sometimes, I still get up every morning ready to do it again, and loving it no less. It is truly my dream job, and I hope to be involved with all of it for quite some time.

This job has placed me in some great positions; I have been in the house of a guy who played on the '79 Rams, a team which went to the Super Bowl, we've assisted the guy in Korn who is making a solo album by recovering his work off of a failed hard drive (you will get that album because of us LOL!), I've been in the house of former Diamondbacks third baseman Matt Williams, assisted pitcher Randy Johnson with Bluetooth wireless keyboard and mouse issues over the phone, and just recently had an opportunity to sit and chat with, as well as shake the hand of the great jazz guitarist George Benson. Our clients include groups such as the Deftones, Sum 41, Good Charlotte, Curt Schilling, Luis Gonzalez, San Francisco Chronicle, MacAddict, and the list goes on. Now you see why I love what I do. :)

Anyhow, that's about it...just wanted to drop in and say hi, and let all of you "older" folks know that I'm still alive, and to say hello and welcome to the newer ones. I hope that your stay is a great one, and we're glad to have you aboard.

Dave LaRue is reading the posts, and is scanning the boards, and I have talked via email with him on many occasions in the past month or so, since NorM and I met with him and Steve Morse after the show here in Tempe at the end of Jan. (you remember the bragging pic, right? ;D) There's an issue with his account right now, and he is locked down to prevent him from posting/starting new threads. I have the web folk on this to resolve, and once that is in place, don't be surprised when you start seeing "dave_larue" talking with y'all.

Alright, I'm out...hope all is good in your worlds; Raz, you're up, dude. :)

Late.

Darrell, sounds like you have been busy and it also sounds like it's a very cool gig. Macaddit, great magazine for the Mac users, get my stepdad a subscription every year and it's worth every penny.

Welcome back, Darrell, and thanks for the update.

If Dave Larue is reading this-- you rock, man! I've caught you several times with the SMB and other Morse-Dregs-type shows here in Pittsburgh over the years.

...and then this.

Congrats on the macmedia gig, very cool of you to help out girl and mom, condolences as well.

Funny you mention Dave Larue after the post I left on steve clinic thread yesterday. Man, he's gonna kick fred's butt when he sees him. :D

dwf,

Tell your Mom to ask the airlines about a 'bereavement rate'. You can get tix significantly cheaper if you're flying to a funeral, but there are some requirements (maybe you need an obit or something.. I can't remember). But the 'bereavement rate' does exist, and she should look into it.

So, best to get to the site first and foremost as I have done before, spend my hour or so now, and visit again later tonight:

Shut up Warg. :p :D

Keith, yes, Dave is more than likely reading, so you and Fred better mind your P's and Q's, mister. I may have been out of the loop, but I'm still in position to whoop ya a**, dudes. :D ;)

It's a great gig, KB...it's really a dream job. I get to work on Macs, deal with Mac stuff, help people by fixing their technical issues, and not have the call center numbers factor hanging over my head. The icing is that there is no micromanagement; they don't give a damn what I do, as long as:

1. I do my job as I am supposed to.
2. The customer is happy when all is said and done.

As the old Toyota slogan went, "who could ask for anything more?" -- life is good. On that aspect, at least. :)

SteveB, will look into the bereavement aspect for Mom's flight. I think, however, it only applies for immediate family, i.e. mom, dad, sister, brother, etc. - aunts may be excluded. But you never know. I'll double up on that.

As far as the passng of my great aunt (?), I'm detached from her enough to where I'm getting by fine (I saw her last 10 years ago, when she was here after my grandmother, her sister passed), so I'm kinda heartless about the whole issue because it doesn't affect me. Losing family though, no matter how distant, still sucks, and I am bummed about that. Mom's taking it pretty hard, since that was her favorite aunt...poor gal. Please keep her in your thoughts.

My girl's granny, I've met once back in '92 (yes, we've been together that long!), and she was a crazy woman, but a heart of gold. I really hope that I'm wrong...but if I'm not, then I'm glad that Nicole will have the chance to at least see her once more before the end. We'll see...

Good to see that the responses came flowing in, glad to know that y'all still love me. :D I'll be in more, and I'm aiming to get back to the normal amounts of time that I spend on the boards as before.

Oh, Razball...where are you? ;)

That game is the main reason why I didn't touch my guitar from November through a few weeks ago. Talk about a black hole that sucks up your free time! If not for World of Warcraft, I'd know more chords and be able to play my scales better.

Macintosh. Love it. Been using them since 1987. I picked up iLife 05 the other day just so I could play around with GarageBand and have a way to record what pathetic musical ideas come across my puny little brain from time to time. I tried to figure out how to connect the line out from my practice amp into the computer, but it's not working, so I'll have to just plug the guitar directly into iMic and hope that GarageBand can do a decent job of adding effects such as distortion.

Darrell, no problem at all! I had shot you a couple emails over the past month or so, and when I didn't hear back I figured you had more pressing matters to attend to. Family stuff should always take precidence over buying new gear. Sorry to hear that so many family member are ill. The agreement we reached still stands, whenever you are ready! :)
