So I got my cobalts in today (love them!) But in the process of changing strings somehow the corner of the nut snapped off. I had a .135 black nylon string on it before, so I dunno if that's what did it or?

What do I do? Do I send it to EBMM or?

It is a sad day for me because I try take such care :(

Here are pics taken with my phone:

Oh man, is that a Roasted Neck too? That sucks! I could be wrong but I think Customer Service will sell you a nut. Give them a call and ask them.

Just replace the nut. The 135 nylons are pretty fat, and
so if you didn't file out the B-string slot to accomodate
that, then the nut was cracked by the downforce of the
B-string as it rode above the too-narrow slot. This would
be especially true if you often fretted that B-string for a
C or Db note ... the high action near the nut woulda put
a lotta extra strain on that too-narrow slot.

Yea but I've been playing those strings for months without issues, and yes tuning up to c occasionally. I will give customer service a call, I really hope this won't cost me a ton

I did the same thing a few years back with an SR5 but it was a big set of flats.

A new nut wasn't much. But I ended up sending it to Music Man to have them go over everything anyway (I bought it used). They were very reasonable and the bass played like new when I got it!

Is there an authorized EBMM dealer in your area? I'm guessing that EBMM won't send one directly to you but will send it to a dealer so that they can do the repair. But, you won't know until you call.

Glue the little broken bit back on. Use SuperGlue (carefully). The downward force of the string itself is more than likely enough to keep the string in place.

Yes, I have done this and yes that's how I dealt with it and yes my 20th SR5 still plays just fine and no I didn't spend any money at all and yes do be careful with the glue.

^^^ Yes, I've done this, too. And, yes, it works fine.

Whatever you do, don't take it to a luthier in denver named Tenorio. He hacked up my sub 5 fretless and wanted to charge me $90 and then told me no one had ever asked for a refund. He had his wife refund me.

No it is the original. That is the nut I got when I ordered it from EBMM. I'm the original owner, and I was the one who took it out of the packaging. Was I supposed to get a compensated nut?

Edit: Scrap that, it is a compensated nut is it not? Here is
Another picture (I slid the nut back in place here but it is still broken)
