Could you give me the build date on my EBMM stingray, please.

Serial # on Bridge is: 31190

Also, which wood is the body made of? It's a Translucent(?) Deep Red with a Bird's Eye Maple Neck/Fingerboard.

How can I tell what the bodies of other EBMM Stingrays are made of? Is there some rhyme or reason to the color schemes?

Are Translucent, Natural, Sunburst always Ash?
Are Opaques always Poplar or Alder?
How can I tell an alder body from others?

Built 7/90

Trans colors are normally ash. Opaques could be ash, poplar or alder.

Thanks,
Greg

Thanks for the reply, but...

Thanks for the reply regarding the date of my SR, but could you possibly shed a little light on my second question?

How can I tell if another SR is ash alder or poplar? As I'm probably due to buy another one, I'd like to make sure of what I'm getting before purchase. Again, I thank you for addressing the question at all but quite frankly your given response,

"Trans colors are normally ash. Opaques could be ash, poplar or alder." is really not specific enough.

Can this information be looked up by the instruments serial#?

After all, it can be a little difficult to determine by weight and subjective sonic opinion the properties of a specific piece of wood. Obviously, density (which affects weight & subjective sonic properties) varies somewhat between any two pieces of the same species of wood.

Please help, Thanks again!
