My friend's Stingray 5 has serial number 51270, when was it built?

Sept 1989...pretty sure.

Thanks Rod. That instrument features a transparent white body and a very nicely figured birds eye maple neck. The neck has a lacquer finish. Do you know if those (body and neck finish) were standard features at that time?

No, sorry....don't know...would only be guessing...Cutlass 1 would be able to help, I think.

Thanks Brian Did you still use alnico for the pickup then? It seems like the pole pieces are different from my 2001 SR5. Also regarding the finish, do you know anything about that instrument? What color was it when it was built?
