We can dream, can't we! This is a for-fun exercise. Take whichever components you like from EXISTING (or anything else you know they have the patterns for) and mix-and-match to create YOUR Signature MM. Although EBMM "doesn't do custom work", I'm sure our own minds have already come-up with our ultimate axe.
Here's my "Romancer":
Luke body with quilt premium top; Trans. Orange
Axis SS solid rosewood neck (my fave shape they make)
Gold vintage trem and hardware (chrome would be fine too; I play my guitars)
Simple, isn't it! Big Poppa, if you're listening I'll order this guitar right now and even pay for it up-front! I'm willing to bet that if EBMM offered a "Custom Shop" line (as long as the CAD/CAM stuff existed, a somewhat blank-sheet-of-paper approach), a lot of people would be willing to pay a substantial (and it would HAVE to be)upcharge. It would save me having to go to a great builder like John Suhr and having him build me what is essentially a mild-custom EBMM. I love my Musicmans, and want more Musicmans! Why should I (have to) shop elsewhere?
Mine has no spec for pickups/electronics because I'd gut it and put in some Joe Bardens and RS pots (nothing against EMGs; just prefer passive quiet guitars). I think it would make for a nice trio of Balls with my Silhouette Special (Wagner SRs, RS pots, Megaswitch, piezo, trem) and my Albert Lee Limited 3X90 trem.
Food for fun thought, isn't it? -Eric
My Secret Recipe for a great gig: Double gigbag with my pair of Balls, a Class A combo in left hand, and a Pedaltrain case with all my analog true-bypass pedals in my right. Add head+hands+heart=Memorable night!
