This is a must read from Premier Guitar Builder Profile: Ernie Ball Music Man - Premier Guitar
Also a new color "gold sparkle" that looks to be coming in Jan!

Hopefully the bass side gets to see this as well

That was a cool article. I learned a buncha stuff I didn't know.

........although I hear that if I decode the bar code on my guitar, I'd get all that info. :D

A new guitar at the beginning of 2011? Is the GameChanger getting its own guitar, instead of being an option on existing guitars? Maybe it's a 25th Silo with the game changer? Oh the questions NAMM will answer!!

The necks are bent then sanded down? That's very interesting! It's nice hearing more about how these wonderful guitars are made!

I love this line!

I have a hunch that the Gamechanger will actually be a new guitar, essentially a Reflex with the gamechanger switching system. Then the system will be added as a build-to-order option.

Just my guess.

See... This article is proof of why I disagree with BP in saying that he feels there isn't a book worthy of reading on the company in him. I honestly think there's tons to tell, from how the company of strings began, right down to how each and every key endorsee began, to the evolution of their BFR instruments. I'm sure it'll make a GREAT coffee table book for sure.

LOVE these bits:

The binding process. Instead of gluing and wrapping plastic binding, they pour it in liquid form into mold-supported body routes to custom fit each guitar.

•Frets. Plek machines are not used. Fret jobs take about 45 minutes, because the frets are cut so that there is a gap on each side of the neck rather than extra fret wire that has to be clipped. That gap is filled by hand with lacquer and a soldering machine.

•Respect the body! Temporary handles are fastened to neck joints before the necks are put on, and then they are secured to vices at each sub-assembly bench so that the body remains in a hovering position when the electronics are installed. This prevents the bodies from getting ganked and scratched by screws, tools, or other debris on the benches.

Wood treatment. Despite buying already-dried and treated wood, EBMM uses real heat from kilns (that is, not ultraviolet light) to draw more water out of their wood. It takes four days to cure a guitar body.

•Striped chambers. Reflex guitars are chambered by routing parallel grooves into the bodies

AND:

A point of pride for the company is the fact that their artists often show up empty-handed to in-store events. “When Steve Lukather is in a store that sells our gear, he knows that every guitar on the wall is set up to his high standards,”

That was a great read ... I just sent that to a dozen of my buddies, they always hear me talk about MM but never understand exactly what makes these instruments great. It's like you've got a whole family working on your guitar long before you get it.

I quite agree with that. After reading many of BP's posts about the GC, there is nothing that says it can't be a completely new guitar, or just an add on. The guitar in the Steve Morse and Steve Lukather gamchanger threads is undoubtedly a reflex. Who knows? I don't want to start speculatiing on things that I have no basis for, no matter how bad I'd like to. lol Only 22 days until NAMM starts..... :/
