.... but it still looks like a Bongo

So I sold my SG this weekend which meant new bass $. On an immature/cool note: I had this piggy bank that I only put quarters in and it finally filled up. I cracked it open and counted over $200 in quarters ... so sold guitar $ + piggy bank $ + normal money = time for a new bass.

i went to guitar center with my bandmates and i was gonna get a Bongo. I played a few, loved 'em ... and, per my "new bass purchasing ritual", i had a cigarette while making my final decision. I just couldnt pull the trigger. After thinking about it for a while my final stance was ".... but it still looks like a Bongo".

I wish i was "mature" enough (or whatever the word is) to ignore the looks but i just cant

I ended up getting a great deal on a new & great playing P Bass (all black/rosewood). sorry to have let y'all down.

You certainly didn't let me down. If you don't like the looks, you don't like the looks. You tried one out, and it didn't float your boat.

You went with what felt good to you, that is all that matters; That is why there are so many different types of everything made; not everyone has the same taste. I am still going to check on the Blue Dawn Sterling, just haven't had time to make thew call.

it is on sale for $699. The SF GC is relocating and they have a bunch of stuff (esp. the used gear) on clearance

Yeah, it's all good buddy. Besides, it's your bass. I'd rather it be good for you than myself. And I think that goes for all of us. Also, I myself love P-basses so I can understand that.

thanks guys ... i have 2 MM's already, an SR4 and a sterling, and i was looking forward to adding to the family. figured it would be cool to have one of each

i tried an sr5 for the first time. i think ive spent a total of 30 minutes on a 5 my whole life, so, needless to say i was lost playing it. what a difference a string makes!

Don't feel too bad ... A) when I first saw a Bongo Pic, my initial reaction was "toilet seat", and next was "Edsel" ... B) reminds me of a chick I used to run with ... she had 3 breasts ... the regular 2 up front, and one on the back ... she wasn't much to look at, but Laird Tunderin' b'y was she fun to dance with ... C) that leaves one more unit in stock for a Bongo player /Rayan

Don't worry about it. I had a Bongo for a little over a month and sold it for the Pumpkin 'Ray just because it wasn't my cup of tea. I like my basses a little more stripped down.

I'll with crazybass there. My Bonger is still in my posession even though in about a month, a trans teal Sterling should be arriving to take the place of the Bongo. I love the Bongo, but there's just something about that won't allow me to fall in love with the thing. I assure you one day I'll have at least one lying around, but for now, with amps to buy and bills to pay, I'll have to go with something I've always wanted and know I'll play.
