Buttercream SS arrives; Cholesterol soars

I received my NOS 2005 LE Buttercream Silo Special SSS yesterday, and HOLY CRAP! This is possibly the finest guitar I have ever played! It's got the magic! I can't even get the trem to go out of tune...it is perfection in a vintage brown tolex case. Another EBMM stunning achievement.

Do I love this guitar? Yeah, bubba! All the more impressive when I tell you I'm not crazy about the color. The buttercream is very buttery, way more yellow than the off-white I had expected. My cholesterol went up 100 points when I opened the case, but it's all good cholesterol. I usually can't love a guitar unless I love the looks, but the sound and playability of this one just kills. YMMV, it's just personal preference. Even with the trem, it is the among the most tuning-stable guitars I have ever owned, including Floyds and hardtails. It sounds stupid great through my rig (Dr. Z MAZ 18 + Z-Best 212 cab). I feel like Tom Cruise on Oprah about this EBMM.

Hats off to Drum City Guitar Land in CO as well...I had them set it up with 10-46 strings before shipping, and the intonation and trem stability is perfect.

Sorry, I have no pics...my wife is out of town with the digital camera. Not all bad, it lets me stay up until 2AM playing I'll get some pics up later.

sounds freekin amazing mate, i know how you feel, silo specials are very special indeed! magic stuff. Its great to switch between it and the MM90 Axis SS, you really appreciate the differences after a while. the bridges on these guitars are unreal, they never go out of tune. floyds are useless "in my unwanted opinion".

Thanks, Robes, I especially appreciated your input regarding the SSS config. Turns out it is exactly what I was looking for...a Str*t without the "idiosyncracies", to be kind.

I need to figure out what was done right with the setup on this trem, and apply that to my Axis SS MM90. I do need to manage that one a bit to keep it in tune while playing, if you know what I mean. On this LE SS, I can hit the trem repeatedly with nuclear weapons for an hour straight, and all strings remain within 2 cents of concert pitch. It's like Floyd without the overhead. It's downright absurd.

Hmmm, I SHOULD hire Tom Cruise to do "I love this guitar!!!!" ads for me...

Hey all, I just realized my comment about the color might be construed as a negative. On the contrary, the finish on this guitar is impeccable, and I know the color probably is a favorite of a lot of people. I don't dislike it either, I'm just not big on solid color guitars versus a nice transparent quilt/flame/natural wood grain finish. But, this one is really growing on me...
