Well played Bill... I drooled while it was on EvilBay and I drooled when LMJ picked it up. I'm glad you were able to snag it and give it a good home... Within driving distance.... cause I am going to have to see it sometime! :)

Bongo + rosewood = awesome sauce

Would love to see some Bongos come out of the factory at the end of this year with RW and some exotic body wood, I'd be all over that! Even a figured maple neck with clear coat headstock would be cool, we know they can do it.

I drooled, as well. I may have to rotate out the stealth bongo to make room. I will bring the butter creme over you way.

Nice one - those rosewood necks are freakin awesome.

I got my rosey a little while back, and after thinking a maple stinger was a little too snappy for my stoner-rock taste (I'm a *former* fender P-bass player) the rosey was exactly the sound in my head.

After playing this bass for the last few weeks since I got it, I'm surprised EB hasn't issued another run yet.

New Bass Day

The butter creme rosewood custom bongo arrived today. First impressions: the all rosewood neck is a real player. Very smooth feeling. Much better feel than the standard bongo painted neck.

Action was set a bit too low for me, I think. Maybe some magnet damping some strings. Saddles seemed low too me, too. Destringed her, oiled up the neck, lowered one of the pickups, raised the saddles one half turn, put on some EB Group 4s Flats. Now, that is sweet. Very very smooth, indeed. Improved tone, too.

Butter

Not to repeat myself, well, .... OK, to repeat myself..... second impressions:

The rosewood neck makes a remarkable difference in the playability of this Bongo. Like butter in your hands.

I agree, Bill. That neck is what made it so hard to part with. If it were an HS or H it never would have left my house. I definitely have my eye out for more.

Enjoy it!
