It's a case of what the market will support. Will people support a wah that's manufactured in the US which costs twice as much as an equivalent model made off shore?

I'm massively in favour of buying from the country of origin wherever possible, but sometimes, it just isn't possible to buy it from your own country.

OK, so I thought it was defective because it only powers from the 9v dc source. My AC adapter will allow the light to come on, but no signal to the amp. I went to my buddy's and plugged it into his Boss pedal system and it works fine. I guess I gotta order an Ernie Ball power supply?

As Pete said, it should power from any DC supply with a center negative tip. I've used a variety of supplies that all work fine.

Or snag the Boss supply from your buddy.

If you can't find an EB power supply we stock them at our Beller's location.

Beej,
I think you meant "ac" not "dc", right?

Pete, so just call the store on Monday & order? They're back ordered on some other on-line stores.

No- DC! Most pedals are DC powered, it's a constant voltage, like a battery. Were you using an AC supply?

Btw ... just noticed on the EB Wah page the text says "AC or battery powered" but the wah's clearly labelled "9V DC in". I'll have to pass that on.

Granted, I'm in the middle of a guys trip to Vegas and haven't slept in about 4 days ... but I think they say "AC adapter", as in you plug it into a wall, but it's really a 9V DC supply. The output should be 9V DC, that's what the pedal takes (should be labelled on the back of the pedal, where the plug is). 9V AC would power the light but you'd get no sound, as you describe. The standard Boss-style adapter is 9V DC output.

Beej,

I'm pretty sure that an ac adapter uses an "inverter" to convert dc to ac. I'm not sure why the pedal says "9v dc in" ?
I think the problem is that we're mixing up "AC Adapter" and "AC Supply".

"AC Adapter" is something you plug into an AC supply (wall power) that converts to DC. The EB adapter, Onespot, etc. are all switching supplies that give you DC output.

"AC Supply" gives you AC output. There are pedals that take AC but usually 9/12V, so those supplies just reduce the voltage while still giving you AC. Most pedals take 9V DC though.

An inverter will give you AC from DC, but it's not really for this purpose. If you wanted to power something that runs off AC from your car battery, etc, you'd get an inverter to give you back AC.
