I see you have a Boss tuner. I have a tuner like that, but it doesn't seem to register low enough to tune the B-string on my Stingray 5. Do you run in to that problem with your tuner?

it does have trouble registering the low B fundamental so I usually tune to the F# harmonic at the 7th fret on the low B string. I know this might be slightly out due to intonation but it sounds fine to me and the tuner registers it perfectly. If your guitar is well setup you should have no problems!

Think you're right MNF, that they don't produce trace eliott anylonger.
I'm not 100% sure but I think "the main man" behind the development of the Trace Elliot amps now makes the Ashdown amps. I can't remember his name though..

Great amps both trace and ashdown IMO

Haven't got pics of my cabs yet, but they'll come around; ampeg 4x10" pro (old) and an ampeg 1x15 classical, driven by a hartke 3500

I have great news fellas. Looks like Trace Elliot is back in the bass amplification business in the UK. Don't know the story behind it, but I'd like to hope that the new amps are as good as their previous models. Time will tell...

They're as good as any Traces out there.

Trace got a bad reputation for quality and reliability because of some problems with some of their amps made in the early/mid 90s... Dodgy transformers in some of the Mosfet bass amps and problems with PCB layouts in some of the valve guitar amps, that sort of thing. They also started producing practice amps around the same time, which were clearly not to the standard of the professional amps.

Somehow this got blamed on the Gibson takeover that took place some years later.

My friendly music shop owner has seen the line up at Wembley and says the build and sound quality goes back to the old days when they were made in Thurrock, Essex.
With Peavey - I think who are behind them - could be pretty decent.

Personally will stick with Ashdown......photos to come.

That rig looks killer mean. Like if you get too close it's gonna bite your leg off mean. Using a combo with an extension cab makes so much sense. Beautiful, man!

How do you like that 2x12 cab?

I really need the 212 to fill out the sound. The 210 on its own barks loud but has no real authority. The 212 carries the fundamental better and basically has more bottoms! the pair is great because the 210 is up around chest/head height so it's good for on stage monitor and the 212 pushes out to the audience more..

but now I'm craving an Accugroove El Whappo when will my gearlust ever end...
