Greg,Why is it so difficult to get a SR5 or 4 without the pickguard if thats not what a player wants ?Is the body already pre-drilled with the holes in it already? IMO this would be a nice option to have.I dont know if it would save EB some money but.is it really a hassle to not include a pickguard if you prefer not to have it

The pickguards are considered part of the design. In the case of the 5 string, it covers a control cavity. We don't currently offer any custom options. Thanks for your input.

Thanks,
Greg

so that's why they all have solid pickguards. I think there is a way to do the mod that allows the controls and wires to be under the guards that isn't to insanely difficult. See www.basscentral.com in their musicmans for some examples i think on their website it says custom installed by us or something which didn't make sense until now. I'm still in anticipation for my ray to get here. Only about 1-2 more months [hopefully]. Thats all

It actually says "select a model to customize", meaning to choose between offered options to create the instrument you want.

Thanks,
Greg

Then if that is the case,Eb truly does not customize at all.I was always under the impression that customizing meant, selecting or not selecting different types of woods, electronics or other type of options that you are willing to pay for .I mean the only thing EB offers is a change to a different type bridge.(piezo) basically, there arent any other options to pick from that of the regular basses that is in production now, maybe except color,or getting a left-hand model. If I am wrong, then I stand corrected.Again thanks for replying Greg

Goto pickguards.com if you want some really cool pick guard ideas. Also, a UK bass manufactuer called Status Graphite are doing some wonderful things, too. I e-mailed them, and they can do a replacement neck with LEDs for 300 UKP. Those are the same necks used by EB one some of their limited edition basses.
