Dave,

There is a difference in the paints, and the Bongo has a clear coat over the paint.
The difference between the two paints? I don't know offhand, and I will not be back at work until next Monday(Merry Christmas!) I will see what I can find out next week.

And a merry Xmas to you too.

It was just that someone on another Forum had said that he thought the neck on the SUB looked like plastic and was rather derogatory about it. I said I thought that it the same as the Bongo, in which case it was like having a teflon neck. :)

The SUB that I had seemed to just have a semi-flat (not quite flat but not glossy either - sometimes refered to as euro black) finish on the neck. It definitely didn't have a clear coat finish on top because as far as I know that would have caused it to be glossy. The basecoat/clearcoat finish on the Bongo should be as durable as any clear coated neck. We handle a lot of finish work in our body shop so I have a fair grasp of what's involved in paint finishes.
