I'm in the INXS tribute. Funny, Gary Garry Beers did not play MMs (to my knowledge, he played Fenders and G&Ls) but the guys in the band love the way my Rays (and occasionally, a Sterling) sound - clean, and low, with plenty of bite to cut through the mix....

I also string them BEAD, and the MMs seem to respond to that better than most other brands.

Cool, sounds like a fun set. My band my daughter plays in is essentially a Stax tribute act, and even though Dick Dunn never had the opportunity play a Big Al back then, we let her play it. We do threaten her with requiring her to smoke a pipe while, playing, though.

Come to think of it, I don't think Steve Cropper ever played a Steve Morse, either. :)

I did some work with Ross Valory years ago, and he talked to me about the BEAD tuning and why he was playing EBMMs. Very cool. And a very cool guy, too.

hate to say it, but your ray kinda looks like a g&l with the pg off.

That's gotta be difficult. I could smoke a cigarette and play, back in the day. But it wasn't easy....

I didn't realize he did the BEAD/EBMM thing. I wonder when he started that. Was long before I discovered it, I'm sure....

Yeah, hadn't thought of that but I see what you mean. I don't much care for MM pickguard, to be honest. And the grain on that bass is so nice, I hate to cover it up....

i don't blame you, my favorite color too!
