Órale,
Just wondering. Can a L-2000 with it's 2 PU's and different combination's come close to replacating the tone's of a MM Sabre bass???
Love to get a Pre-ernie Sabre, but you know about this economy......and thought a G&L tribute could come close...

I'm not too familar with how a sabre sounds, but i had a G&L tribute L-2000 and it was VERY bright compared to my SUB. Similar sort of growl, but sounded totally different.

With the low economics, Sabres are currently going at rather low prices. Check out eBay. However, try the StingRay 4 HH. It's really killer. Great quality and absolute gigantic tone. At least mine :)

FWIW, I had a L2500 Tribute... and while it's certainly a nice instrument for the money... well... it's not a EBMM bass (sound or build). :)
The G&L pickups are HOT (way hot)... and you could dial in a lot of different tones.
But none really sounded anything like my SRs...
Just my opinion... but I think the L2500 is sort of a jack-of-all-tones... master of none. If you're looking for a classic MM sound... I'd stick with a MM bass. Nothing else really delivers the same feel/tone.
