Strictly speaking, that's a drawing.

I'm interested in checking out the mechanics of these and getting some basic questions answered, such as whether the strap buttons are dual-use like the ones on my Dunlops.

I like my Dunlops and have little reason besides EBMM brand loyalty to switch. However, the Dunlops can in fact get hung up a bit when engaging so that they're not fully latched. I almost dropped my bass once because of this, and I think I remember reading that Jack did too at some point. Avoiding this is as simple as giving the strap a tug to make sure it's latched, but it'd be nice to have a lock that is 100% proof against any idiot, even me.

I use Dunlops, too. But, you are right about the possibility of them going south when one is not careful to latch them properly. It happened to me a number of years ago... onstage... in the middle of a song. I had to do a "quick change" between songs. I was careless and didn't make sure the straplock was fully engaged. Off it came. Luckily I had somewhat of a grip on the neck at the time. the body still smacked down on the floor. It was a Hamer (American) B12S twelve string bass. I nearly cried until I saw that there was no damage to the bass after the song. You should have heard the god-aweful noise those twelve strings made in the middle of the song when that thing hit the deck  Kind of interesting having every eye in the club firmly affixed to you. A bit intimidating.

I'm looking forward to seeing just how the new EB straplocks are designed too.

Those are very cool and I will get busy making sure that we order them at the store but I must say that the stock strap buttons are one of my favorite things about EBMM basses. I actually bought two bags of them too keep on hand in case I get a used MM bass with non original strap buttons on it. Now what will I do?
